    The Aztec started in the 13th century.They ruled what is now central and south Mexico.They named themselves Aztlan or “white land”.

    In 1345 A.D. they started to build their city when they saw an eagle with a snake in its mouth.They drained all the water and they knew they could start a city where they could grow plants.They were going to name the city Tenochtitlan.

    In 1428 under the power of their leader Itzcoatl.They formed a three way alliance with Texcocans and the Tacubans to defeat their rivals Tepanec.If there was no sun on a people would be sacrificed so that the sun god would be happy.

    The Aztec decited to make a pyramid in 1487 which was in there city.Each february kids were sacrificed to the maze gods on the mountain tops.In march Prisonirs fight to death.People that died from this ranged from 10,000 to 50,000 people that died.
