    Constitution of 1824
    The Catholic religion was made the official religion and was supported by the taxes.The three branches of government was similar to the U.S.There wasn't a specific effort to define the right of the state's, local affairs were independent of the federal government.SFA conferred the Mexican leaders and Erasmo Seguin represented Texas in the assembly.The Anglo‐Americans in Texas were not represented.The constitution was never offer to a vote of the people for ratification.A major step for Mexico.

    Fredonian Rebellion
    A debate between the Mexico and the Edward brothers.Haden had a grant to settle 800 families near the Nacogdoches in eastern Texas.He was able to uphold the land grants.He would force settlers, who didn't prove ownership,move or pay.
  • Mier y Teran Report

    Mier y Teran Report
    Mier y Teran was sent to an expedition to observe the natural resources and the Indians,to discover the number and view the Americans living there,and to determine the United States-Mexico boundary between the Sabine and the Red rivers.Left on November 1827,Teran suggested to stop the U.S. from obtaining Texas.To add more defense surrounding the settlements,closer trade ties with Mexico,and more motivations to the Mexican and European settlers.His ideas were included in the Law of April 6, 1830.

    Guerrero Decree
    Decree ended slavery throughout the Republic of Mexico.It was thought that Decree did this to act like a "check" with the American immigration.When it reached Texas,the political chief banned it,saying it was violating the colonization laws.The news alarmed the Texans.Soon,the Mexican Gov. informed the governor of Texas that there would't be a change to respect the slaves.Even though it didn't followed Texas,it made many Texans thought that their interests weren't safe.

    The law as designed to stop the American immigration to Texas from the warning from Teran.It forbade further introductions of slaves and was intended to suspend the existing empresario contracts.From the Texan's view, the law prohibit immigration from the U.S.It was disturbing for the Texans and SFA protested the law to the Mexican gov.He was able to convince the Mexican Gov. to limit some of the law. He began to distrust the gov.The conventions and the pile of injustice helped lead revolution.

    Stephen F. Austin Goes to Mexico City
    SFA was elected to deliver the resolutions from the Convention of 1833 to Mexico City. When he arrived in July, he persuaded the government to repeal the Law of April 6, 1830. When he convened he had left nothing undone, he was arrested on January, moving to prison to prison. He was released on December 1834, but not allowed to leave Mexico City.

    Col. Juan Davis Bradburn had orders to establish a garrison and a town.His job was to help the collector of customs and prevent the entrance of immigrants from the U.S.Travis and Patrick Jack were arrested,causing conflict.The rescue force reached Turtle Bayou and was planing an exchange for the two men and others.The Brazos settlements met Mexican troops in a big meeting.The Turtle Bayou Resolutions was made and signed. The issue was resolved when Bradburn's superior gave back the prisoners.

    The settlers opposed the rule of Mexican commander.The rebels had learned the Federalist army had won under the leadership of Santa Anna.They composed the Turtle Bayou Resolutions.They explained the attack against the fort was the Mexican garrison.The Federalist sympathizers opposing the Centralist gov. as part of the civil war wanting to return the Constitution of 1824.The 4 resolutions,for all Texans to support the patriots fighting under Santa Anna.The general who explored convinced and left
  • Battle at Velasco

    Battle at Velasco
    Was the 1st bloodshed between Texas and Mexico. The charge of the Texans were getting a cannon against the Mexican forces.The Texans troops and the Mexican troops fought and Mexicans were forced to surrender. They returned back to Mexico, and found out the prisoners were released and Bradburn had been removed.(Turtle Bayou Resolutions)
  • Convention of 1832

    Convention of 1832
    The agreement was held at San Felipe de Austin.55 delegates elected SFA and met. Requesting extension of tariff exemptions, modification of the Law of April 6, 1830, to permit more general immigration from the U.S., donation of gov. lands for the maintenance of primary schools, separate the statehood from Coahuila. Also established a plan for organizing a militia and committees of vigilance, safety and correspondence. The tejano settlement of San Antonio refused.
  • Convention of 1833

    On the day when Santa Anna took control, 56 delegates attended. Wharton asked for more Indian defenses, judicial reform, and improvement with mail service, sought tariff exemption, and passed resolutions.The delegates asked to split Coahuila and Texas. Juan Erasmo Seguín, Dr. James B. Miller, and Austin were chosen to present to the government but soon, Austin was the only able to do the mission. Discontinued on April 13.

    It was held in Sam Felipe, it was a debate between the opposing factions that wanted to continue a diplomatic relation with Mexico and a side where they wanted to immediately declare independence.The purpose of the war, the power and structure of government and the virtues of different leaders. On November 7th, it had established a provisional government.Sam Houston was the commander of the army but was never recruited one.
