Finding Maya
Abby and her best friend Cheyenne, came in contact with one of Maya's friends and found out where she had spent the night. But as they pulled up to the appartment she was in, they discovered Jefferson's car parked in front. When they went to talk to Maya, she admitted to hitting Jefferson in the head with an empty vodka bottle, but swears she didn't kill him. But can't remember details because she was high, making her even more suspicious. -
Saturday
Abby went for a run on Saturday morning with her dog Cody. While she was on her run, she came across a dead body by the river in a spot that people called the Bend, after looking at it, she confirmed that it was Jefferson Andrews, a guy in her grade. She looked around the scene more and discovered her sister, Maya's cell phone. She knew she had to go find Maya right away. -
Veronica's
Abby decides to take Maya to her stepgrandma Veronica's house to keep Maya out of reach from the police. She believes that there is too much evidence proving that Maya did kill Jefferson, and the police will be all over her in no time. Veronica puts together a plan to find somewhere for Maya to hide for a while, where no one will know, not even Abby. -
Brian
Abby decided to ditch school and stop at the gas station, there she found Brian, Jefferson's little brother and they decided to hang out at Brian's house, there they discuss some things about how Maya is missing and things that could be evedince. Abby goes on to Jefferson's computer and finds a picture of Jefferson and Maya, but she spilled soda all over the computer purposely to break it so it couldn't be used for evidence and her sister wouldn't be brought into the picture even more. -
Police Investigation
The police came to Abby's house to talk to her and her family about Maya. They believe she is a suspect because she ran away right after Jefferson was killed. Abby asks to be interviewed privately and they police believe she knows more than what she will tell them, and threaten her by saying that they could take her into custody because she would be considered a wittness. -
Lunch with Cheyenne
After the police investigation Abby decides to go out to lunch with Cheyenne. While they were talking, Cheyenne brought up that she got into the private college that she really wanted to get in to, but never had enough money for, now that she is the top student because Jefferson was dead, she could become valedictoruan and have the scholar money. But Abby sees this as a suspect, that Cheyenne could have killed Jefferson to become valedictorian. -
Sneaking into Brian's Room
Brian had told Abby to come over and meet up with him after his youth symphone, but she got there too early and went in anyways. While she was waiting, she looked through Brian's stuff and found a bunch of drawings he made, bun in each of them, there was Jefferson being killed. Abby knew that Brian hated Jefferson, but did he hate him enough to kill him? This evidence added another suspect to the list of Jefferson's potential killers. -
Maya Returns
Maya decided to come back home, but facing her parents wasn't easy now that they were so convinced that Maya was the killer. As soon as she got there her dad called the police to come, they talked with Maya but did not take her into custody, so she spent the night. But in the middle of the night Abby saw her dad out front, and figured he was calling the police, so they both fleed the house and ran to Medusas Den, the place where Maya had stayed the night of Jefferson's death. -
Maya gets Turned In
After the police found them, Abby realized she had no other choice than to turn Maya in to the police and go through an investigation. The police think that Maya is the killer, all the evidence adds up to it, Maya is put in jail and sentanced to 15 years in prison. -
Abby Visits Maya
Abby finally decided to come visit Maya in prison, but with all the time that Maya was able to spend thinking, she figured out that Abby was Jefferson's real killer. And she was. The last chapter reveals that Abby was Jefferson's killer, and she framed Maya for it. But that is what she has to live with now, nothing can be done
