    This was the official beginning of the French Revolution. The meeting was called because Louis had to pay all of Marie's debts from gambling and clothes. This was the first meeting of the estates in 175 years This was important because it was the "firestarter" for the revolution.

    National Assembly decision
    Sieyes proposed that the Third Estate rename themselves this. This would mean they would pass laws and reforms in the name of the French people. This was the first action of the revolution
  • Storming of the Bastille

    Storming of the Bastille
    Rumors of foreign troops coming to Paris to attack the citizens were flying around. On July 14 a mob searching for weapons stormed the prison Bastille. They killed many of the guards and prison commanders and marched around with the commanders heads on pikes. This was important because it was an event that was symbolic in the French revolution. It is now a holiday, similar to the Fourth of July.

    The rebellion spread to the countryside quickly. Rumors of the nobles hiring outlaws to terrorize the peasants spread like fire. This was all unnecessary, and it made the peasants themselves become outlaws. Thousands of women stormed the palace and killed guards. They demanded that Louis and Marie return to Paris, and they agreed. This was important because Louis and Marie leaving showed the changed of power happening in the country *The Great Fear officially started in July some events in Oct
