    During a battle in Belgium the allies detonated 900,000 pounds of explosives. The explosion almost destroyed all of the german front. The explosion was so big and powerful that it was heard all the way in london.

    12 million letters were delivered each day in frontline. by the end of the war over 2 billion letters were delivered. On average, it took two days for a letter to get from london to france.

    During world war one generals were banned from leaving the trenches and entering the battlefield. The main reason that generals were banned from entering the battlefield because their expertise would just be lost. This started the saying that lions were led by donkeys during WW1.

    The war started by with assassination of archduke Franz Ferdinand. He was killed by 19 year old Gavrilo Princip. A week after he was assassinated, everyone in europe took sides.

    The Youngest British soldier was 12 years old. He was only one of the 250,000 underage boys who enlisted into the army. Most of the kids who enlisted did it to get away from there bad lives.

    On April 22, 1915 Germans shot shells at the allies. The shells contained huge amounts of chlorine gas. That was the first time in history that large amounts of chlorine gas was used in battle.

    On September 15, 1916 the british deployed the first tanks. The tanks were deployed at Delville Wood. The only good part of the tanks is that they could clear paths and run over barbbed wire.

    The Zimmerman telegram was issued on January, 1917. the telegram was an offer for Mexico to join Germany. Mexico declined the German offer.

    Blood banks started to develop during World War 1. Captain Oswald Robertson established the first blood bank in 1917 during the war. The main ingredient that he used as anti coagulant was sodium citrite.

    On December 3, 1917 Leutenant Quency C. Ayres boarded the U.S.S Pocahontas. The U.S.S Pocahontas is heading to france. The U.S.S pocahontas will take a month and two days to arrive at France.

    On February 15, 1918 Quincy recieves his first letter. The letter is from none other than his bae. Its was the first time quincy ever recieved a letter from anyone during the war.
  • Back in Nazi teritory

    Back in Nazi teritory
    On February 3, 1919 Quincy gets sent back to Nazi Germany. For the last month or so Quincy had been in France. Quincy had relaxed a bit and enjoyed the holiday season before coming back to battle.
  • He got promoted

    He got promoted
    On February 13, 1919 Quincy got promoted. Quincy has been promoted to first lieutenant of the army and got very excited. He had been expecting a promotion for for almost a year.
  • He is back home

    On June 8, 1919 Quincy got back from the war. He arrived at Boston harbor. His wife wasn't there to recieve him but he said it was fine.
