On September 6, 1620 a group of 102 pilgrims sailed from England to America in search of the new world, on the mayfower boat. -

They were very excited because they were near the end of their triumph.The first winter was veri cold and 45 people dead from the extreme temperatures and from hunger. After a few months , in march 1621 ,the pigrims met a Native American for the first time and he introducedthemto his tribe.the Native Americans taught the pilgrims how to grow corn, beans and pumpkins.After this ,life became betterfor the pigrims. -
Declaration of independence.
on 4th Juli ,1776, the coonies decared independence from great Britain. Their eadres pubished the Declaration of Independence on this date. Then,the fighting started. The colonists,led by George Washinton, fought many long,difficult battles. in the end, they defeated the brithish and signed the Treaty of Paris in 1783. They caled their new nation the United States of America (USA). -

In 1803, the French Emperor Napoleon offered to se the and to the United State for $15 million.The president,Thomas jefferson , accepted the offer and signede the Louisiana Purchase Agreement.This doubled the size of the size of thge country and people started to move west.By 1848,the country extented from the Atlantic to the Pacific Ocean. -

There are problems in our country. The people in the north live in towns,but in the south,they ive on plantation owners want to keep their saves,but the people in the north want to aboish slavery.They say it is cruel.
Abraham Lincoln is now the President of the USA.He want to end slavery. The people in the south want to leave the union and have their own nation ,called the Confederation States of America,or the Confederation.But lincon wants to keep the country together. -
Attacks on the union
The south has got their confederacy .It's got 11 states now.Richmond,in Virginia, is the capita. They think they're a different nation from the Union in the north.Confederate soldiers attacked a Union fort caed Fort Sumter yesterday.so now, we're at war! I'm very frightened. -
The War can't continue
This war is terribe! Thousands of people are dead .Both the peope in the north and the south are suffering. The war can't continue for ong because the confederates are losing.They have got fewer sodiers than the Union. -
One nation
Today Genera Robert E. Lee, the Confederate army eader, surrendered to General Ulysses Grant, the union army leader. I can't believe it! It's the end of the war ! But more than 600'000 Americans are dead. Now , the slaves are free and and the country is one nation. But we'll never be the same again!
