Soraya and Amir get married
After months of trying to get to know Soraya and trying to talk to her without her father knowing Amir finally marries her. Baba asked General Taheri for Amir to be able to date his daughter. Before the marriage Soraya had to let out a secret that has been haunting her, she told him she wasn’t pure and that she had run away with a man once because she was “in love.” Amir payed no attention to it because he has a secret of his own that had been haunting him since 1975. -
Baba dies
Baba decides to stop taking his medicine and ends his life. He was the kind of man that wasn’t going to let death tell him when his life will come to an end. Everything was at his own time, he decided when he would die and he would decide what his next step would be, no one ever made the decisions for him. He was a hard headed and intelligent man who didn’t do as other said but did everything at his own cost. -
Hassan and Farzana are killed by the Taliban
Hassan gets killed first for trying to save Amir and Babas house, he was the sacrificed lamb once again. Farzana went running after Hassan after she saw her husband being killed and they shot her as well. Sohrab was only 10 and watched his parents get killed infront of him. Sohrab was alone and with no one to take care of him. -
Sohrab almost bleeds to death in the tub
Sohrab feels like everything Amir told him was a lie, after Amir broke his promise to him about never going back to an orphanage. Sohrab was found in the tub, blood everywhere and amirs razor next to him. Amir didn’t stop screaming until the ambulance got there. -
Amir finds Sohrab, and comes across Assef again
Amir asks Assef to have Sohrab and Assef tells him that he’ll give him to Amir if they fight fair and square. Assef ended up loosing and dead after Sohrab shot him with his slingshot. Amir ended up getting hurt very badly and got a cliff lip as a representation of how Hassan had one, symbolism. -
Amir Gets a call from Rahim Khan
Rahim Khan calls Amir for him to go see him on his last days, Rahim Khan is dying and needs to talk to Amir about how to be good again. Amir goes to see Rahim Khan, he tells him about Hassan and Farzana and how Sohrab is alone and has no one to take care of him. He also tells Amir about how Hassan and him are brothers and its another reason to why he should go find Sohrab. After 1975 Amir hadn’t been the same and this was a way for him to be good again, a way to renew himself. -
Amir and Sohrab fly a kite togethe
Amir tries to get Sohrab to talk to him by showing him and telling him things about flying kites and how Hassan use to be so good at it. Short doesn’t speak but he does get the kite for a little while and returns it to Amir. Amir showed him a way to win that he hadn’t done in years, he won the contest and Sohrab had a half smile on his face, it was barely there but it was there. It was the best moment for Amir, he told him he would go run to find the last kite.. “ For you a thousand times over.”
