    Craig started becoming a child rights activist when he was 12 years old. One day when he was looking for the comics in the newspaper, he saw a title called "Battle Child Labor, Boy, 12, Murdered". He felt a connection to the boy because they were the same age, so he took the story to school with him. He asked his class to help him stop the issue of child labor, & 11 students raised there hands. And that is how Free the Children was created.

    What started off as 12 students turned into an international charity. Craig & Marc are the founders of Free the Children, which are programs that have empowered more than one million beneficiaries.
  • HIS FIRST TRIP TO HELP

    HIS FIRST TRIP TO HELP
    Craig went on his first trip to help end child labour to India. He wanted to travel around southeastern Asia for 2 weeks, & help as much as he possibly could. When he came back from this trip, he realized the most impactful thing he could do at home is share what he saw there. And he also understood that rescuing children was not going to end anything. Instead he figured out that children need education, & his jobs needs to be building schools to break the cycle of poverty.

    A lot of people at the beginning did not agree with what Craig & his group were doing. People were saying "Why is it that North Americans always think that they can save the world?". But after 2 years of fighting through all the public attacks, Free the Children gathered enough donation funds to support a rehabilitation centre in Pakistani which took care of young children freed from slavery.

    This book is the story that started a movement. It talks about Criag's life & his joruney through South Asia, metting some of the world's most disadvantaged children, & learning the truth behind headlines.

    In 2002, Craig recieved the World of Children Award-Youth Award. The World Children Award is a global recognition & funding program for people who are helping serve the needs of children. It recognized the changemakers & leaders of our world.

    The first We DAy was held in Toronto at Ricoh Coliseum, & 8000 youth attended it. Craig & Marc hoped that We Day would cause more youth to discover new passions for activism. It is a stadium event where celebrities perform & people talk to empower change & try to inspire the youth population to make a difference in the world.

    Craig became the second youngest recipiant of the Order of Canada at 25 years old, for his amazing work with Free the Children. The Order of Canada is apart of the Canadian Honours System, & recognizes outstanding achievements, deication to the community, & service to the nation.

    Craig & Marc made Me to We to help with Free the Children. It is a for-profit social business that provides helpful products & services, & donates half of its net profits to its non-profit partner (Free the Children).

    Craig & Marc wrote a book with help from Shelley Page called "The World Needs Your Kid: Raising Children Who Care & Contribute". This is a four star book, & Craig has recieved many awards & medals for his books. The World Needs Your Kid is a unique guide for parents to help encourage children to become global citizens. Marc & Craig explain how small steps can create buigger actions & help in a very big way around the world.
