  • New York Became the 11th State

    New York Became the 11th State
    On July 26, 1788 New York became the 11th colony of the United States. On this day, the United States Consitution was ratified by New York. The Anti-federalists group that believed our country could not support a continental republic were proved wrong. New York became one of the most stable states and none of it would have happened if they did not disagree with the Anti-federalists group. This image is a part of the public domain.
  • The New York Stock Exchange Began

    The New York Stock Exchange Began
    On May 17, 1792 on 68 Wall Street, the New York Stock Exchange began. The Stock Exchange began small with the first listed company being Bank of New York. It was so small that only five securities were traded. Since 1792, the New York Stock Exchange has grown tremendously and has helped make New York the fiancial hub of the United States.   • New York Ended Slavery

    New York Ended Slavery
    On July 4, 1827 New York ended slavery in their state. New York had the most anti-slavery movements of any other state. After the Underground Movement began New York decided to emincipate their slaves and end slavery in their state for good.   • The Great Depression Began

    The Great Depression Began
    On Oct. 24, 1929 the New York Stock Exchange crashed and the worst fiancial crisis began. After a horrible day referred to as "Black Tueday" where $16 billion dollars worth of market capitalization was wiped from the stocks, the Great Depression began.   • The World Trade Center was attacked

    The World Trade Center was attacked
    On Sept. 11, 2001 New York City was attacked by al-Queda. al -Queda hijacked United States airlines and crashed them into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center. Many families suffered greatly losing their loved ones or friends. Even 14 years later people still remember that horrible day. This picture is a part of the public domain.
