The Nest

  • Overall Permise

    Overall Permise
In my book, The Nest, there is an ordinary boy named Steve. He lives in an ordinary family. When his baby brother was born, everything drastically changed. The doctors did not even know what was wrong with him. They did not know if he will walk or talk. Steve became distant with his parents because they were always at the hospital. When would his family come home? All he could do is wait. He wishes that he could help his little brother. I thought at this time that I am going to love this book.
  • Event 1

    Event 1
My baby brother is still in the hospital. It's just me and my sister, Nicole. Our parents are always at the hospital because they still do not know what is wrong with the baby. Mom said they do not know what is going to happen. We do not really talk about it much because mom will start crying. I am scared. I want to have a healthy baby brother. I somehow want to help but I do not know how, and my parents keep me out of the loop. I felt sad hearing about the baby, and they do not know what to do
  • Event 2

    Event 2
Steve, awake in bed. All he can think about is his brother. They do not know what to do with him. Lying in bed he becomes so tired he falls asleep with releasing. Steve has found himself in a dream. He meets a silver, small looking bee/ fairy. She said she has came to help. She told him that she will fix the baby and bring him home happy and healthy. Then he awakes from his drea. This reminds me of "Heaven is for real" because it discribes it as a heavenly place. It seems so unreal.
  • Event 3

    Event 3
Many weeks later when nothing seems to be getting better Steve tells his mom his secret. The dream he had a couple nights ago. He was going to tell her right away, but he was scared that she would start crying. He finally built up the courage to share his dream. Once he did, his mother a soft smile on her face. Steve could tell she was holding back tears. She told him how sweet his dream was, but how unrealistic t it was. I felt very shocked on how his mom just pushed away his thoughts.
  • Event 4

    Event 4
Many nights later Steve falls asleep in bed and meets again with the lady. Once he arives he can tell she is a silver bee. He remembers seeing a bee like this before ouside his window. He askes her many questions to see what she does, and why she is here. She is here to help the baby and to help Steve feel better about himself. She said that she would go and fix his DNA. She thinks anyway. I felt she was acting fishy because she never gave any clear answers to him.
  • Event 5

    Event 5
Vanessa, the baby sitter, came over one evening because mom and dad wanted to go out for dinner. I was thinking abou the wasp lady in my dreams. Sence Vanessa was very smart I asked her abou it. She told me that she was a queen bee. That she reproduced to make many worker bees that were also in my dream. When I talk to the wasp I am in a cave. Vanessa says it's most likely the bee's nest. I thought it was really cool because they told really cool facts about bees.
  • Event 6

    Event 6
This is Steve's third dream. When he enters the room he notices the walls are thicker, the air is heavy, and it's very dim. There is a nest hanging above his head. There is something inside but he cannot tell what it is. The bee lady is floating in front of him. She told him the baby is being treated. Steve relises it's the baby inside the nest. Suddenly, the wasp asks if the baby can continue with treatments. Steve says "yes". I think he should have said no because this probibly wont end well.
  • Event 7

    Event 7
I feel like I'm all alone. Mom and dad are always at the hospital or work. From what I know nothing has changed with Toby. My parents finally chose a name for him. He got to come home for the day yesterday and I played with him the whole day. All he does is eats, sleeps, and makes funny fances. He looks like a perfectly normal baby, but he has something wrong genitically. I felt really sad for Steve because he has not had enough attention.
  • Event 8

    Event 8
I awake in the dream again. This time it is even darker than before. The queen looks agressive this time. I look above me and Toby is hanging upside down and crying. She gives me a grin and tells me that baby is making progress. I feel red, hot, and mad. I scream at her, telling her to stop hurting my brother. She acts as if she does not know what I am talking about. I say to stop with the treatments. she laughs and said it is too late. I am really mad at the bee because she lied to Steve.
  • Event 9

    Event 9
I felt threatened. On my way home from school I stop at the therapist I went to when I was really little. His name is Dr. Brown. I told him about my wasp dreams. He listened me explain in detail about each dream. He thought it might be like the time I had an imaginary friend named Henery. I did not know for sure , but I trusted him anyway. He told me not to worry about it. No one knows how real it is. I feel nervious for Steve because he now has to save his baby brother by himself.
  • Event 10

    Event 10
This time I go to be with a flyswatter. If I sleep with it maybe it will come with me. I nerviously close my eyes. When I eneter the cave it is dark and moist. The queen floating, she waits with all her workers behind her. I can feel in my right hand is the fly swatter. Toby is dangeling, close enough to toutch. I run to the queen and swatt her in the heart. Suddenly, I am sitting in bed. I run to the baby's room and there he is, healthy. I am really happy that Steve killed the queen.
  • Reflection

    Reflection
Overall, I did like this book. It was very interesting. I think I would recomend this to a friend. The only thing about the is book I did not like was, that it kind of dragged on in the middle of it. I would watch a movie if they had one because it would be very thrilling. If they did have a series I would read it, alough they would have to change the ending to make it last longer. This book was very believeable because it brough real life and fairy tales together.
