  • Colonists separation from England (02 America The Story of Us Revolution).

    This day the Declaration of Independence was signed in order to justify all of the unworthy actions of the British King. The colonists listed all of his unjustified actions and they explained how they feel the actions violated all of their unalienable rights. Therefore, the colonists officially separated themselves from British government.
  • New York is under attack.

    This is when the British invasion occurs. There are hundreds of soldiers on each British ship with sixty cannons that have the ability to fire at the speed of sound. Since British soldiers have more experience than the patriots, this puts the British to a strong advantage (02 America The Story of Us Revolution).
  • New York is in British power.

    Patriots were forcefully being held on the British prison ships in the New York harbor because of the takeout of the city. This is more famously known as George Washington’s first official defeat because he lost the city of New York to the British. The patriot prisoners have a high risk of dying while imprisoned. Native Americans join the British to fight Patriots. The native americans introduce some new innovations and helped to fight the Patriots along with the the British which was useful in
  • Campsites for Washington’s troops at Valley Forge (02 America The Story of Us Revolution).

    The campsites were going through hardships such as starvation and working against the cold. This gave the troops more difficulty continuing to fight while staying healthy.
  • Albigence Waldo was an important surgeon on the site of Valley Forge.

    Waldo created a diary for the experiences of sickness and hunger at Valley Forge covering every few days in December. Again, Valley Forge faces many hardships which impaired the soldiers from continuing their tasks. There was a lack of food supplies and the weather would create long hardships (Waldo).

Makes the United States of America powerful allies of France so there is a common enemy. If war would occur between France and Britain, the United States and France would aid and fight for each other.     General Von Steuben military officer who stays at George Washington’s encampment at Valley Forge. Steuben works on training the soldiers with weaponry and army tactics and techniques. Steuben also watches over the cleanliness of the camps. Steuben wrote a letter explaining his thorough experience working with the soldiers at Valley Forge. Steuben also had to watch over the recurrence of illnesses between the soldiers and how to deal with the situations(Steuben).

    In comparison to Albigence Waldo on the site of Valley Forge there were many similarities. For example, both Albigence Waldo and General Von Steuben worked to benefit the camp at Valley Forge and influence the soldiers to become stronger. Waldo worked to keep the sickness and injuries at a low so the soldiers could remain healthy for war and Steuben helped the train the soldiers towards ultimate preparation against the British.

    Contrasting both Von Steuben and Albigence, both of these important figures arrived at Valley Forge for different, initial primary tasks. Waldo was a surgeon who watched the army suffer from illnesses, lack of supplies, fighting, and the constant travel. Steuben was a military officer so he worked to teach the soldiers formations and tactics so the soldiers would show full preparation. He was not in charge of watching the health of the soldiers, although he would report on it on occasion.

This shows how the two important figures both supported the soldiers of Washington's army at Valley Forge through a strong time of hardship.     This spread quickly across the armies in Valley Forge and created a significant weakness (Education Materials Index). One fourth of the victims in the camps died due to the smallpox virus (02 America The Story of Us Revolution).

    Ebenezer Denny had been a major in the Continental Army. Denny wrote a diary which includes the eyewitness events leading up to the surrender of Cornwallis at Yorktown. Pennsylvania line was reduced to six regiments. Continental army under the command of Lt. Col. Comt. William Butler. The army was marched to New York.

    Samuel Montgomery was the captain and George Bluer was the lieutenant. General Anthony Wayne was the commanding officer. These are all important figures leading up to the Battle of Yorktown (Denny).

    The army passes through Fredericktown in Maryland. The Potomac was reached and there was a want of craft-boats. There was a severe junction with the Marquis Lafayette (Denny).

    The army moved towards Richmond, which is where Cornwallis and the army were staying. The army passed through Richmond towards Williamsburg. Colonel Simcoe is an important figure who commands the British legion. The army reaches the Bowling Green which leads to a severe march (Denny).
  • The dead were buried and the British army moved locations.

    The officer, surgeon and some men were sent to bury the dead. The British army moved away from Jamestown (Denny).
  • The Continental army continued moving and stopped in Williamsburg.

    The army passed on the bank of the James river-part of the French fleet. The army camped at Williamsburg (Denny).
  • General George Washington arrived at the camp.

    General George Washington rode along the long-quarters of Williamsburg. Troops of Washington began using the innovation of bayonets which were spears put on rifle ends in order to have a weapon of double the usage (Denny).
  • Two important figures were General Hand and General Wayne in the continental army.

    There is a large encampment behind William and Mary College, which was currently occupied as a hospital. There were many general officers and new corporations became involved.   • The Battle of Yorktown Beginning

    The army moved in three different divisions. The army moved in divisions in order to become closer to the enemy. The army became encamped three miles in Pigeon Hill. One third of the army was fatigued every day. Colonel Schamel was an adjutant-general to the Continental Army. This was the official start of the Battle of Yorktown (Denny).

Major Hamilton was an important figure because he commanded a battalion which lead to the possession of the fort. There is heavy fire throughout the day. Cornwallis excused himself for his surrender and march out of the troops, General O’Hara took his place. General O’Hara had to lead the soldiers towards surrender (Denny).

    The loss from the French and American armies was about three hundred. The loss of the french was about 300 hundred(02 America The Story of Us Revolution). This was a great defeat which conquered the power between the United States and France against Great Britain.

    This was the last battle of the revolutionary war and created the key point of the official beginning of the United States beginning an individual system of government. The colonies had the ability to officially declare their power and rights from the defeat of Great Britain.

    This compares to the signing of the Declaration of Independence because in both situations the colonists are working against Great Britain for a common goal. This common goal is to show their power of independence and declare their rights to be officially know. This differentiates from the signing of the Declaration of Independence because there is a treaty involved in order to have an ally with a common goal of defeating Britain.

    This is important because France is the associated ally which supports them through warfare, the battle turn out may not have been the same without the aid from France. Also, another difference is how during the signing of the treaty the colonists laid the idea of having freedom from Great Britain, but after the Battle of Yorktown the colonists had to conduct many wars in order to officialize their power and prove their worth.

    The Declaration of Independence was an officialized and signed document created by the colonists of the United States while the Treaty of Alliance with France was another document created by the colonists of the United States. Both of these events helped the colonists to officialize their strength against Great Britain, while one event began the Revolutionary War and one event ended the Revolutionary War.
