The Road To Revolution

  • The Stamp Act

    The Stamp Act
The Stamp act was an action where there was now tax on newspapers, wills, pamphlets, diplomas, marriage license, playing cards and more. This was for the British to collect revenue from the colonies. This left colonists very mad and later lead a rebellion. This rebellion wasn't any small rebellion's, the stamp act turned into war. I feel this is the biggest factor for the leading to the American Revolution, but the anger held for all of those years tore they away even more leading to the war.
  • Townshend Acts

    Townshend Acts
The acts named after Charles Townshend were addons to the Stamp Act. There were new taxes for lead, paper, paint, tea, and glass. New courts made for prosecution of American Smugglers, and the ability for any British official to check any house they want at any given moment. With more taxes and laws added of course this would make American Colonists even angrier. Their saying at the time was "Taxation Without Representation". They felt they were getting taxed for no reason and made many unhappy.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
The Boston Massacre was a small fight that turned into a massacre with a crowd of American Colonists and British troops. British soldiers shot at many and killed during this event. The Colonists threw rocks, snowballs, and hit them with clubs. Eight soldiers, and one officer were charged with manslaughter and arrested. The Boston Massacre helped unite lost of colonies against Britain, and made the colonists want independence. The Boston Massacre was an excuse to start the war after six died.
  • The Tea Act

    The Tea Act
The Tea Act was a last ditch effort to save the enterprise. The Act made it to where companies could ship the tea directly to the colonies without passing through England. This increased the tea tax in order to save the business in Eastern India. Colonists had organized a protest about the Tea Act which was called the Boston Tea Party. This hurt the British ability to trade their goods which made them angry. This made both sides left unhappy and bad things to happen soon, like protests and war.

    The War of 7 years

The Seven years War was better known as the French and Indian War. The French Expansion in the Ohio River Valley brought the British colonies unhappy.. With the first out of the seven years the British lost many battle to the natives and french. The British started winning wars, and later led to the Treaty of Paris. The war had the Brits on top with taking most of the land and forcing the others to pay war expenses. This left them in no satisfaction and and angry colonists.
  • Royal Proclamation

    Royal Proclamation
The Royal Proclamation was the taking of the land from the French in North America and making it Britain's This also marked the day that Canada started their relationship with Britain. There were many unsatisfied after the Royal Proclamation including the French, colonists, and natives. A Native, Chief Pontiac, led a rebellion damaging many homes and captured eight people. Throughout this a gang of whites attacked 20 natives and killed them, which had nothing to due with the rebellion.
  • The Quartering Act

    The Quartering Act
The Quartering Act allowed Colonists to house British soldiers in the colonies barracks supplying food and drink. American Colonists hated this act because they had to house the British soldiers, feed them, and were still being taxed for providing their barracks for the British Army. This also meant some things could be used against them during the war later on. This was bad on both side building tension because the American Colonists had to pay for the troops, but lots treated their troops bad.
