    Battle of the Atlantic - (Canada)
    The battle of Atlantic (1939-1945) was the longest battle in the WWII. The German's planned to cut Naval support from North America to Western Europe. In the beginning the Germans were in the favor of victory in the battle. Also, the victory of this battle meant winning or losing the war. However after years of battles in the Atlantic Ocean, the British invented Sonar. It would detect the U-Boats used by Germans to take down ships, and later on the British made more ships than being destroyed.
  • Canada Declares war on Germany (Canada)

    Canada Declared war on Germany in 1939 and helped the allies win the war. Canana unlike last ww joined in their own will. They voted to join the war in the parliment. This was a great moment for Canada, as they proved that they truely were a independent nation.
  • Air Training (Canada)

    In December of 1939 The british started the Air Training. This had a big impact specially since it was hosted by Canada. Pilots would be trained in the Canada to be ready for War in Europe. Leading to ally victory!
  • France surrenders to Germany (Canada)

    In 1940 the allies lose France to the Axis as France get's invaded. Failure of having France in the allies meant that Canada was now Britain's strongest allie. The Canadian Army had to use more army and had to build stronger war goods from this date.
  • The German Blitz on British (Canada)

    The Germans did a huge bombing attack on the cities of Britain in 1940. However they failed to take Britain. The Brtish had stronger Air Force thanks to the Canadians and the commonwealth. They were stopped by the RAF and RCAF.
  • Operation Barbarossa

    The operation Barbarossa was to invade USSR. This meant breaking the pact between Germany and Russia. The German's invaded Russia and the operation was known as Operation Barbarossa. The Germans did succeed with the invasion and the Russians would just pull the German's deeper and deeper into the cold.
  • Pearl Harbor

    Japan attacked the Island of Hawaii in 1941. This meant USA will join the war. While USA tried to stay of the battles in war. The army of Japan attacked Peal Harbor and caused USA to join the WW. This caused many victories for the allies, with the super power on the allies side.
  • The Hong Kong Invasion (Canada)

    In December of 1941, Hong Kong was invaded by the Japanies. This was one of the worst battles for Canadians. With the first battle to help. Everything failed. The army of Japan took Hong Kong and the allies failed dramaticly.
  • Germany Declares war on USA

    With Germany being at war against Japan. Germany and Italy declare war on USA in 1941. USA was a superpower at the time and still is. This choice ended up bad for the Nazis. While USA might not have done so much in the war against Germany but surely they did end the WW with the nuclear bomb.
  • Canada votes on Conscription (Canada)

    While the exact month and day are not known. In 1942 Canada votes on Conscription. Canadian Prime Minister promised not to have conscription in the begining of the war. However in 1942, the allies asked for large scale help from Canada, and Canada did not have the troops.
  • Japanese in Canada are sent to Camps

    In Feb 1942, due to WWII, Japanese in Canada are treated poorly. The poor treatment caused many Japanese to suffer what they did not deserve to suffer. They send them to camps where Japanese were forced to work. They were kept like prisioners.
  • Battle of Dieppe (Canada)

    In the August of 1942, the Battle of Dieppe marked the death of many Canadian and Allied Soldiers. The disaster happened to the fact that there were no Naval or Air Force to support the walking troops. It also failed because the Germans knew when the Allies were going to attack. They also had the advantage of machine guns, which meant that anyone coming into the beach could be shot to death easily since there were no covers. However this taugh the allies a lesson!
  • SS Caribou sinked by German U-Boat (Canada)

    In October 1942, the German's killed over 130 people on SS Caribou. This was the largest attack on the Canadian shore. It also caused people to help with war.
  • Surrender at Stalingrad

    The Germans failed to take Russia when the cold weather of Stalingad hit them. The Cold weather stopped the German tanks, and army. They failed to invade this city in Russia and this was the first major defeat of the Germans.

    The Invasion of Italy mainland started in 1943. This battle was to attract soldiers from the Russian front to Italian front, so that Russia could push from otherside easier. Canada was involved in this battle and they succeded in this battle.
  • Invasion of Sicily (Canada)

    In 1943, Sicily was invaded by the allies. Canada played a huge role in this attack and the allies invaded Sicily with a victory. This helped the Russians to push on the eastern front as the German's were sending troops to Italy.
  • Italy Surrenders to the Allies

    Italy was one of the main nations for the Axis. They supported Nazis and were close friends of the Germans. Italy failed to fight back and Canadians with the Allies succesfully took Italy in their hands. This helped a lot in war and boosted the morale of the people.

    The Battle of Juno Beach happened in 1944, it was one of the biggest victories for the allies. The Juno Beach attack was a success thanks to the support of the Navy and Air Force. Also the troops were ready and trained as well as possible. This battle also helped with the retake of France for the allies.
  • D-Day

    D-Day happened in the 6th of June, 1944. This was the biggest allied victory. D-Day was when France fell back into the hands of the French and the allies. The allies started to attack from the beaches of france and won themselves the victory to this battle.
  • Liberation of the Netherlands (Canada)

    In september of 1944, the Canadians helped to push the Nazis away from Netherlands. This date was a day of happiness for the Dutch. It meant no more roles of Hitler, and no more attacks. Canada played a major role in this. Even to this day Dutch people thank Canadian Army.
  • Conscription Crisis (Canada)

    The Conscription devide the nation into two parts. While Quebec was against Conscription both in WWI, and WWII, t other provinces were not. This caused Canada to be devide into two parts. However in WWII, it was better than the crisis in WWI.
  • Germany Surrenders

    After Netherland falls back into the allies hands. Germany surrenders. Hitler suicides after knowing that they have no way of winning the war, and everything that has happened will be revanged upon him. His best option was to kill himself, and so he did. This also meant the allies won themselves a victory!
  • Canada joins UNITED NATIONS (Canada)

    In 1945, Canada joins UN. UN was the replacement of LoN, and they failed in the beginning. However now we can see the UN can use military force and going against it is not a good idea.
  • Bombing of Hiroshima

    With the Japanies not surrending after the German's. The allies drop nuclear bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. This stopped the army of Japan from going furthur into the war. They knew that this death bomb was possibly the strongest man build machine. This meant the allies had an advantage that nothing could beat. This lead to a victory for the allies.
  • Japan Surrenders

    With the war ending in Europe, Japan was still going with its attacks in Asia. Finally in 1945 they surrendered. The main reason that the Japan Army surrendered was the nuclear bomb from the United States. Which Canada played a role in, that was to help with building this death bomb.
