War is declared
Britain declared war on Germany. John saw this as an opportunity to get back over seas to his family and to be with Polly. He was rejected from joining the army due to the condition of his lungs. -
John joins the RNWMP
John was rejected from joining the army. That's when he saw the add for signing up to be a Mounty. he went to the PA detachment to sign up. the doctor passed him. Then he was posted in Blane Lake in 1915. -
John falls ill
John had been feeling un well for months. He went and seen the doctor. The doctor told him that he had TB. John was releaved from work and was told to rest in bed until he was well. During the time of his illness the Patterson family looked after him. Jessie was always helping john ad with all of the time they were spending together they began to fall in love. -
First footing
John had been gone for six years now and missed six anniversary's. Polly began to worry about him, he hadn't wrote for months and she wanted to know what had happened to him and if he was ok. She told her family that in the spring she wanted to sail to Canada to find John. The first footing a dark haired man has to come through the door, a light haired man was unlucky. When it was midnight and the black bun and man would be arriving soon, there was a knock and the first man through had red hair -

Polly arrives in Regina
Polly goes to the RNWMP office in Regina to try and get a hold of John. she gets them to call the office in PA. John happened to be in the office at PA at the time Polly phoned. John was shocked and didn't know what to think, Polly was so excited. John told her to take the next train to Saskatoon and that he would meet her there. -
Polly meets John in Saskatoon
Polly gets off the train at Saskatoon and meets John. John is all shook up and doesn't know what to think. He drives them to Regina where they live in a boarding house. -
Jessie moves to PA
jessie moved to PA to be a nurse. Her and John sent many letters back and forth now, love letters. Even though John was staying with his wife Polly in Regina he still went to see jessie all of the time. -
John proposes to Jessie

Polly finds one of Jessies letters to John
Polly is very upset to find the letter. Especially that she has come all of this way to see john. She doesn't want to believe that it is true but she has also felt that John has been being distant to her and not taking her out for walks or wanting to be with her. And on top of it all she is pregnant. -
John moves to Saskatoon
John moved to Saskatoon for work and was in charge of a subdivision of the Military Police. Polly was still in Regina in the boarding house waiting for him. While Jessie was eager to marry him and also wanting to see divorce papers from him. John was busy trying to figure out a plan to get rid of Polly and marry Jessie. -
John and Polly are moving to Saskatoon
John sent Polly a letter telling her to pack her stuff and that he bought them a house in Saskatoon. He told her to take the train to Colonsay and to leave the trunks with Mrs. Wismer. -
John kills Polly
John picks Polly up from saskatoon and tells her that they need to go to Blaine Lake. On their way john pulls up the shotgun stops the car and shoots a rabbit. It starts to get dark outside and he tells her to that he wants to shoot some geese. He stops the car again and tells Polly to hand him the shotgun. He tells her to keep her eye on the goose. He shoots the goose. John turns around to face Polly and he pulls the shotgun up one last time. He shoots Polly and buries her under the culvert. -
