Why I Choose This Book and Settings
I chose the selection because many of my friends recommended this book to me. This book overall is about thirty five girls that are selected to be in a contest. Prince Maxon was in need of finding someone to love, so he set up the selection. The main character is America, who is a five, which is a low rank in the kingdom. She has red hair, and likes to be herself. The main setting revolves around the castle and the gardens (which are by the castle.)
  • The Letter

    The Letter
When Americans mom first found the letter she was way over excited. If America would join the family would be greatly rewarded with both money and maybe even the crown. Later, when America found out what her mom was considering she immediately declined. She soon is convinced to join by her secret boyfriend, named Aspen. This happened when she went to secretly meet him at night. He than tells her that she needs better since he is a six and leaves America heart broken.

While America and her mother were waiting she heard someone yelling out to them and turned around. Americas mom then started to have a conversation to Aspens mother and her teenager girls, that were also signing up for the Selection. His mother mentioned that he maybe wanted to marry a girl setting off America’s mind.

    First Enconter With the Prince
America was still not over the breakup and was starting to have a mental breakdown. In desperate need, she tried running outside without permission, which wasn’t a loud. When trying to leave, Prince Maxon helped her out and they proceeded to walk in the garden. However, she started yelling at the Prince thinking that he had bad intentions, and told him she had no interest in falling in love. Later on, they decided to be friends and she would help him out.
  • First Date

    First Date
Prince Maxon and America had made a deal during breakfast the next day. If America's sister, May, didn’t cry while eating pie for the first time she would have to go on a date with Maxon. Overall, her sister didn’t cry so she proceeded to go on the date. They then walked around the garden talking about both of their interests, but only for a short while.
  • The Castle Under Attack

    The Castle Under Attack
During a talk the girls and America were in, a sudden explosion was heard. All of the ladies were screaming and huddled into a corner. Maxon ran over to America and asked her questions to make sure she was alright. Later on in this conversation, Maxon confessed about the attacks and why they were happening, and she's the only one he told.
  • Serious Talk

    Serious Talk
Maxon surprised America by coming to her room in the morning. They began to proceed into a serious conversation about each of their lives. During this dialogue you could tell that they could obviously converse to each other. America then confessed about Aspen and how she saw him with another girl at the ceremony for the Selection. Maxon could tell she was starting to cry and grabbed her into a hug as they continued to talk.
  • Interviews and Kisses

    Interviews and Kisses
In this section of the book America and the other girls were getting interviewed (being televised). Each individual was asked certain questions and should answer honestly. When America was up to bat, she told the honest truth and others seemed amazed by her answers. She confessed that she was the girl that yelled at Maxon, and the other girls were shocked about why she was still in the contest. Later on, she told Maxon it was possible for them and he embraced her into a kiss.
  • Aspen a Gaurd?!

    Aspen a Gaurd?!
Maxon and America were going on yet another walk through the garden. Although, when they were walking a view of guards came into view. It seems they were welcoming a new guard and Maxon introduced her to Aspen. America, was shocked and was instantly sad as he acted like he didn’t know her around the prince. Of course she didn’t tell Mason that he was the boy she was talking about earlier and has to deal with him as he guards her door. However,it seems like they stil have feelings for each other.
  • Down to the Last Six

    Down to the Last Six
Before America went to bed, Aspen confessed that he will fight for her over the prince. America was not exactly sure of her feelings at the time. As the night came so did morning, and she felt renewed. The once thirty five girl contest, was limited to six and it was now called the Elite. She was for sure ready for it.

    My View on the Book
I recomend this book to anyone who is into drama. I must admit I usually don't like books like these, however I guess this one changed my mind. The Selection had strong points and it imediatly pulls you in. Overall, I think this is an amazing book, and I am definitly reading the Elite (next book)!
