    Space Race The USSR launched Sputnik 2 carring a small dog named Laika which proved living objects could survive in space.

    Space Race America created the National Aeronautics and Space Administration(NASA) . NASA would help Ameica with the space race and further space technology.

  • Vostok 1

    Space Race The USSR launches Yuri Gargin into space orbiting Earth once making him the first man in space. This shows America that the Soviet Union is doing things nobody has ever done.This is also a very big accomplishment.

    Space RaceAmerica launches Alan Shepard into space making him the first Ameican in space. This shows that America is not far behind in the space race.

  • JFK speech

    Space Race John F Kennedy delivers a speech saying "I believe this nation should commit its self to acheiving the goal before this decade is out landing a man on the moon and returning him safely to the earth." this meant that America was gng to try to get a man on the moon.

    America launched John Glenn into space and orbited the earth three times. This was a step closer to wining the space race.

    Space Race Alexei Leonov spends 12 minutes floating in space also known as a spacewalk. He was the first man to perform the spacewalk.This showed that a man could survive out in space completing objectives.

  • Luna 15

    Space Race The Soviet Union launched a satilite Luna 15 into space.At the last moment Soviet engineers changed the corrdinates and the satilite crashed. This showed that the USSR was out of the race.

  • Apollo 11

    Space RaceOn July 20 Neil Armstrong,Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins boarded Apollo 11. A space shuttle.Their mission: to get to the moon. The event was telivised all over America. Then they landed on the moon. They got out and Neil Armstrong said the famous words"One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind." Neil and Buzz set upthe American flag and played golf and examend the moon while Micheal Collins orbitied around the moon.Later they landed in the ocean with only 30 seconds of fuel left.
