Finding America
In 1492 Christopher Columbus saild to San Salvador an island south of America. He originally thought that he was in the indies searchig for gold. He would call the natives Indians and would force them to find him gold or he would cut off his hand. He never knew that he had found a whole new country no one knew about. -
Decleration of Independence
On July 4th 1776 American leaders decided to make a decleration to become its own country. 56 men signed this document and sent it to Great Britian for the King to read it himself. The author of the document was Thomas Jeffereson who would later become the third president of our country. -

The War of 1812
The War of 1812 was a war that lasted two and a half years betweem America, Great Britian, and the Native Americans. It was fought for mostly trading reasons and boundries. The war ended when everyone involved in the war signed the Treaty of Ghent. -
Michigan
On January 26 1837 Michigan became the newest member in the union. Michigan is the 26th state in our union. Michigan is known as the Great Lakes State. -
The Gold Rush
On January 24th 1849 a guy by the name of James Marshall found gold in Coloma California. After this 300,000 people came to California to search for gold. They were refered as 49ers. The Gold Rush ended in 1855. -

The Civil War
The Civil War was fought between the northern states and the southern states in our country. The wars big purpous was slavery but there were some other reasons to why they started the war. After the war had ended President Abe Lincoln was shot at Fords Theater in Washington D.C by John Wilkes Booth.
