    America: Civil War

    Southern states break away and create the Confederate States of America. Broke away for states rights and also the right to own slaves. Started with the bombing of Fort. Sumter and ended with the signing of the Appomattox Courthouse. Last battle was fought at Palmito Ranch in Texas after the surrender of Confederates.
  • America: Emancipation Proclamation

    President Abraham Lincoln signs an executive order freeing all slaves in the Confederate States of America. This is most famously known as Juneteenth as this is when most Slaves started to find out about the executive order.

    America: Reconstruction

    After the Civil War, America enters a reconstruction period in the south. All states must meet certain requirements to rejoin the Union.
  • America: Lincoln Assassination

    Lincoln is assassinated by John Wilkes Booth at Fords theater by suffering a gun shot to the head.
  • America: USS Maine

    America: USS Maine
    While in the Port of Havana in Cuba. The USS. Maine blows up suddenly over night. America blames the Spanish government and declares war. America will defeat the Spanish and gain vast amounts of land in the Pacific. Years later it is made aware of that the USS. Maine blew up because of a fire in the ammunition room and not a mine by the Spanish government.

    World War I

    Also known as "The Great War". All began after the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria-Hungary. Due to various treaties being signed countries were reluctantly pulled into the fight. The world had never before seen war on a scale like this. Millions of soldiers and civilians will be killed in just four years. Many great technological advances during this time with weapons, tanks, and airplanes.

    WWI: Battle of Verdun

    German and French forces face off near Verdun, France. This is a German assault that is stalled roughly two miles away from Verdun. The French will counter-assault and push the line back to the starting point of the battle. Rough estimates are that in the entire Verdun sector almost 1.25 million people died. The actual battle is estimated around 600,000 deaths.
  • America: Zimmerman Telegram

    British intelligence intercepts a telegram from Germany. Germany tells Mexico if they'll go to war with America they can regain all their lost land from the Texas Revolution and Mexican-American war. Germany will come to help after Germany defeats the French and British.
  • Fun Fact: Molasses flood

    In Boston a storage tank burst and spilled over 2 million gallons of Molasses into the Boston streets. It killed over 21 people and injured up to 150 more. The damage done was devastating to the area and costly at that.
  • Treaty of Versailles

    After Germany agrees to surrender the fighting stops and a treaty is negotiated. Germany and Russia are not allowed to attend. France wants Germany to pay and will make Germany pay over 6.6 billion pounds. Germany is also forced to lose all but 6 naval vessels as well as reduce army down to 100,000 men. Went into affect on 01/10/1920
  • Germany: Adolf Hitler

    Adolf Hitler takes power after being appointed Chancellor in 1932 and will combine the Chancellorship and Presidency after Hindenburg passes away in 1934. This will give Hitler all the tools necessary to build up Germany, kill/arrest Jewish people, and use intimidation tactics against his political opponents.
  • Germany: Invasion of Poland

    Hitler invades Poland after saying Polish troops killed German troops. This will be the official cause of World War II

    World War two

    Adolf Hitler begins World War II by invading Poland with a new and unbelievable method called the Blitzkrieg. After the fall of Poland it becomes a domino affect of countries entering the war on both sides. Germany will be on the defensive side after D-day and Hitler will kill himself around mid-1945
  • France: Defeat

    On May 10, 1940 France is defeated by German forces. France will enter a 4 year occupation until the liberation by allied forces after D-day. America will have to come and save France for the second time in under half a century.
  • France: German Invasion

    After a successful invasion of Poland, Germany turns on France and will force France to surrender in a little over a month. France will continue to resist and help the Allied movement and will be a key factor in preparing for the D-day Invasion.
  • Great Britain: Battle of Dunkirk

    Great Britain: Battle of Dunkirk
    With France on it's heels Britain is pushed back to the Atlantic beaches of Dunkirk. Hitler orders the German army to halt all advancements instead of forcing the surrender of the British army. This will allow enough time for the British to get all local fishermen and naval boats to try and evacuate as many British troops as possible. In all over 300,000 British troops are saved and returned to Britain.
  • Germany: Invasion of Russia (Operation Barbarossa)

    Hitler makes a fatal mistake of opening up two fronts by invading Russia. Operation Barbarossa begins in early summer and will stall out on the outskirts of Moscow. Germany will be also held up by the Battle of Stalingrad and the Siege of Leningrad and cost countless resources and men that could've helped capture Moscow.
  • America: Pearl Harbor

    In the early morning hours Japanese plans fly over Hawaii and surprise attack the U.S. Pacific Fleet. Over 3,000 men and women are killed along with numerous battleships heavily damaged or destroyed. Luckily all Aircraft Carriers were out of port at the time and not damaged. America declares war on Japan the following day. Germany will declare war on America a few days later.

    Japan: The beginning of the End

    Toward the end of 1942 Japan is being attacked by American forces in a tactic known as Island hopping. The Americans are making small but sizable gains as they inch closer and closer to the Japanese homeland. The tables turned when the Japanese attempted to ambush the few remaining American Carriers but their plans were known due to code breaking. Instead, American planes hit and sank 4 Japanese carriers and one heavy cruiser.
  • Allied Forces: D-day

    Allied Forces: D-day
    On the morning of June 6, 1944 German troops wake up to the bombardment of their Atlantic Wall fortifications by a massive allied fleet. A few hours before American and British Paratroopers had fallen from the skies in an attempt to disrupt German operations. The deadliest beach is Omaha beach (U.S. forces) with around 2,000 casualties.
  • Japan: Hiroshima

    An American bomber carrying a bomb never seen before code named "Little Boy" was dropped on Hiroshima and destroyed the town in a matter of seconds and killed the majority of anyone in the city.
  • Japan: Nagasaki

    Japan: Nagasaki
    Three days after the U.S. told Japan to surrender or suffer the same fate as Hiroshima. Another nuclear bomb is dropped on Nagasaki killing and wounding close to a hundred thousand people.

    Korean War

    In an effort to stop the stop the spread of Communism, America will go to war against North Korea in an attempt to save South Korea from being a communist country. While the Soviet Union denies being directly involved we now know that Russians were among the ranks of the North Korean military.

    Vietnam War

    America attempts to block the spread of Communism once again. This will be the first war where news agencies are sending camera men to the front lines and actively showing war scenes and conditions to Americans back home. This war was long and dragged out and support for the war dwindled to the point where soldiers were mocked at airports when returning home.

  • America: 9/11

    In the early morning hours of September 11 terrorist will board four airliners. Two will be flown into the North and South towers of the World Trade Center, another will be flown into the Pentagon, and another will crash into a farm field in Pennsylvania that was more than likely headed for Capital hill or White House. Close to 3,000 were killed and over 6,000 were injured.

    America: First African American President
    Barrack Obama becomes the first African American to become President of the United States. A massive historical event for both African Americans and America.
  • Germany: Finally pays off WWI debt

    On Sunday Oct. 3rd 2010 over 90 years later Germany makes final payment of WWI debt that was forced on them by the Treaty of Versailles
