  • Regina was founded

    Regina was founded
    Regina was founded in 1882, when the Canadian Pacific Railway, then being built across western Canada. It was named after Princess Louise' mother, It was founded in 1882 and was made the capital of Saskatchewan in 1906. The population of Regina is 236,481 people, it has grown by 12% since 2011 according to Statistics Canada. This event is important because it is a new place of living for people and brings Saskatchewan a capital city.
  • The election of Laurier

    The election of Laurier
    Wilfred Laurier was the 4th largest prime minister, he served for 15 years and 86 days. he was the head of the liberal party. Laurier was involved in 7 general elections, he won 4 and lost 3. he was also the first of 5 francophone prime ministers. Wilfred was in the Canadian house of commons, he won 17 elections and was defeated 3 times. on February 17th, 1919, he died from a stroke, he was known and loved for his "warm smile", his sense of style and his "warm ways".
  • Clara Martin

    Clara Martin
    Clara Martin achieved her goal on February 2nd, 1897 of becoming the first female lawyer. She participated in various women organizations and for a decade she was the only female trustee on the Toronto board of education and was almost elected as an alderman. This is important because she showed women that is a female thing as well to be a lawyer and not only a male thing. she helped women achieve their goals just like she acheived hers.
  • The founding of Lloydminster

    The founding of Lloydminster
    The Lloydminster area was first found in April 1903 with the arrival of the Barr Colonist and about 2,600 people from England. It was named after Reverend Lloyd for leading the colonists, the first part of the name Lloydminster is named after Reverend Lloyd and the last part of the word minster means mother church. When the provinces of Alberta and Saskatchewan were founded in 1905, Lloydminster was split in two.
  • The Frank Slide

    The Frank Slide
    The frank slide was a rockslide that buried part of the mining town of Frank, North-West Territories, April 29th, 1903. Over 82 tonnes of limestone slide town Turtle mountain within 100 seconds destroying the Canadian Pacific Railway line and the coal mine. this was one of the largest landslides in Canadian history and killed between 70 and 90 people were killed, most of whom remain buried in the rubble. I think this event is a terrible thing that happened and will always be remembered.
  • Saskatchewan and Alberta are founded

    Saskatchewan and Alberta are founded
    Alberta and Saskatchewan were joined into confederation in 1905, they were originally apart of the northwest territories. Alberta was first occupied by several first nations including the Siksika (Blackfoot), Kainai (Blood), Piikuni (Peigan) and Gros Venture.
    Early explorers of Saskatchewan were Peter Fidler, David Thompson, Peter Pond, Alexander Mackenzie and George Simpson.
  • Supremacist Riot

    Supremacist Riot
    The supremacist riot was one of the largest race riots in Canadian history. It was taken place in Vancouver, British Columbia in 1907. The riot started with a large gathering of people who also marched on city hall. After seeing speeches against Asian immigration a group of people went to Chinese and Japanese neighborhoods in the city and they wrecked properties, got involved with physical violence and caused terror to the town. This was a huge event that will go down in history.

    Last Spike of the Grand Trunk Pacific Railway
    Last Spike of the Grand Trunk Pacific Railway was started in 1908 and was one of the most difficult tracks to make because of difficult terrain, extreme weather conditions, and a shortage of workers. this track was approximately $112,000 per mile. One of the struggles the workers had to cope with was their general manager dying in the sinking of the Titanic. In 1914, last spike was held 1.5 kilometers of Fort Fraser, BC. this event is important because it was a new way of transportation
  • First Calgary Stampede

    First Calgary Stampede
    The Calgary Stampede is an annual rodeo exhibition and festival held on every July in Calgary, Alberta. It is a 10-day event and is said to be "the greatest outdoor show on earth". This event attracts over one million visitors per year. The Calgary Stampede was organized in 1912 by an American promoter Guy Weadick and had his first rodeo that same year. This event is important because it gives culture to Calgary and could can attrack alot of people and grow a very large buissness
  • World war 1

    World war 1
    World war 1 began in 1914 after the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand and lasted until 1918. Franz Ferdinand was an Archduke of Hungary. He was assassinated on June 28th 1914, which was also his wedding anniversary. Because of this assassination, there was a war against Hungary and Serbia. This war killed more than 16 million people, soldiers, and civilians.
