    This was a purchase of land 828,000,000 miles of territory from France by the U.S. It went from the Mississippi river to east of the rocky mountains.

    Steam boats were used to move cargo. Built by Robert Fulton in 1807

    known as the national road. went 600 miles and was the first federal highway.

    Turnpikes needed to be created because men were being moved. They are roads that made trade easier because they allowed colonist to migrate.
