    Exploration of Africa

    The Portuguese discovered Africa in search for a route that bypassed the mediterranean and allowed them to trade directly without trading through people in the middle. This leading them to discover Africa.

    Age of Exploration

    There was a lot of trade for china, stone, silk, and spices. Spices were very valuable because it enhanced the flavor of food. Back then spices were rare and worth buying.

    This was the time period when the production of technology was rapidly increasing. This helped to create the tecnhology we now know.
  • Arkwright's Water Frame

    He created a factory that sped the process of making shirts out of cotton up. He made this with a water wheel thated helped to move the process.
  • Asante Empire

    The Asante Empire was an active slave trade in the 18th century though they were unsuccessful and resisted Britian in the 19th century. In the beginning of the 1800's they were successful when trading slaves with the Dutch and British in exchange for firearms. On January 1st 1902, Asante was declared a Brithsh crown colony.
  • Origin of Species

    Charles Darwin published the book "The Origin of Species" which said that all living things evolved overtime. This including humans.
  • Social Darwinism / Survival of the Fittest

    People twisted Charles Darwin's ideas to make their own beliefs on their world true such as racism. They called it Darwinism even though he never agreed with anything they said.
