    Johannes Guttenburg's invention allowed for ink to be pressed unto paper and other substances. This allowed for multiple pages to be created every minute. The ability to print faster allowed for scholarly research to flow much faster. It also allowed for newspapers to be printed quickly and increase public knowledge as a whole.

    Alan Turing proposes the Modern Computer
    In a research paper Turing identified how machine's could ultimately complete any task pre-programmed. This concept, coupled with soon to come innovations in physical technology allowed for minds like Bill Gates and Steve Jobs to create the computers we see in the classroom today!

    Access to the Inkjet printer
    The inkjet printer is the basis of most home printers. These printers work on cartridges filled with ink. They are quieter, smaller, and need to warm-up time compared to almost all other printers. Their availability today due to commercialization allows our students to print: projects, portfolios, essays, and homework in the comfort of their own home and cheaply. This innovation makes sure our students can produce their work quickly, neatly, and efficiently.

  • Commercially available home-computers

    Commercially available home-computers
    Home computers allowed for instructors to research and create documents at home. It also allowed for students to do the same. The innovations here allowed for new innovations in the name of educational games and simulations. The availability of the home computer allowed for many students to learn on their own through programs. In the social studies, students were now able to view images outside of those found in the encyclopedia.

    Presentation Software
    A fan of lecture or not, presenter software has allowed for the passage of information from teacher to student to come out of the dark ages. The presentation softwares like Microsoft Powerpoint allow for visual learners to engage in the content. It also opened up thousands of ways in which students could present their own information in the "flipped" classroom.

    The World Wide Web
    Tim Berner's Lee envisioned a browser software that could view information based on domain names. This vision would allow anyone, anywhere in the world to view a domain name. Well, these became known as websites and the browsing system was the foundation for Google where educational information is passed along each day. Lee's framework allowed for website creators to get their site seen without the need of imputing program. Educators and students alike reap the information sharing benefits!

    The company Google has ingrained the idea of browsing internet domains and information so much it is now a verb in the dictionary! The company has designed and introduced a number of computer features to the broad public. Educators and students alike are benefited by this tool because it is the first step to navigating the world wide web to many other educational tools. For example, how do we access our Cool Tools? We Google them first!

    The manufacturing of tablets for use in the home allowed numerous apps and programs to be in the palm of your hand. Instructors and students alike gained another way to access educational games and information quickly. The use of tablets in the classroom allow for mobility and more chances for technoloy use at the level of infusion.
