  • Lexington

    Lexington
    Paul Revere, William Dawes, and Samuel Prescott went out to warn people that 700 men we coming towards Concord. When the British arrived, they made the 70 minutemen lay on the floor and began to fire. 8 minute men were killed and 10 were wounded. The Battle of Lexington lasted for only 15 minutes.
  • Concord

    Concord
    The British moved to Concord and found that the arsenal was empty. The minutemen began to assemble, and by the time the british came back, there was 3,00 to 4,000 of them. They fought and the British we being killed rapidly because of how many more minutemen there was. The British were humiliated at the fact that they had been defeated so they made their way back to Boston.
  • Bunker Hill

    Bunker Hill
    This was considered the most deadliest battle. There were 2,400 British solders and by the time the smoked cleared form all of the fighting, the colonist lost 450 men. The British had one this battle.
  • New York

    New York
    They needed to stop the rebellion, they decided to isolate New England. The British wanted to seize New York so they sailed ships to New York City with and army of 32,000 men. They had a lot of German soldiers called Hessian.
  • Trenton

    Trenton
    George Washington lead 2,400 men across the Delaware River in a snowstorm. They marched towards Trenton and defeated the Hessians by a surprise attack.
  • Saratoga

    Saratoga
    British General John Burgoyne planned to lead an army from Canada to Albany and then later meet with the other British troops. Later on he realized that the British officers weren't coming because they were holding down Philadelphia still. Soon after, the American troops surrounded him in Saratov and he surrendered. This was a powerful moment in the war.
  • Valley Forge

    Even though the Continental Army was low on food and supplies, they still managed to stay alive in the winter camp.More than 2,000 soldiers died. A Persian captain and drillmaster also helped train the army.
  • Marquis De Lafayette

    Marquis De Lafayette
    He was a military leader who lobbied with France for French reinforcements. In the last years of the war, he led a command in Virginia. He also help in training the Continental Army.
  • Philadelphia

    Philadelphia
    In 1781, congress made business with a rich merchant in Philadelphia. They raised funds by taking money from Jews and Quakers of Philadelphia for the Continental Army. About 5,000 African American joined the army.
  • Yorktown

    Yorktown
    Late September the French and American troops begin to bombard the British day and night. October 19, 1781 Cornwallis surrenders and America is shocked that they have defeated the British.
  • Treaty of Paris

    Treaty of Paris
    This confirms the U.S independence and the boundaries of the new nation.By this time the U.S stretched from the Atlantic Ocean to Mississippi and from Canada to Florida.
