    juan ponce de leon Juan Ponce de Leon of Spain. Sailed to the new world but a bout a decade later he was governor of Hispaniola. Which led him to go after the legend of the Fountain of youth rumored to be on a near by Island (Puerto Rico). He instead lead his men to what is now known as Flordia. There as he discoverd Flordia and then later died from a fatal wound.
