    The Law of July 9th, 1832 was the reorganization of the indian service. The tribe got 20,000 dollars to hold meetings with other tribes.These were taking place to try and make indians move west of the Mississippi.

    Deadline
    Augest 5th 1838 was the deadline for the Powtatomi tribe to leave their land. SOme of them have already left, so they didn't have to fight the white men.

    General Tipton showed up at the village with his 100 soldgiers, made the people prepare for a hike. The prepreation was awful, the started to use force to make people leave
  • The March

    On September 4th, with three Cheifs, Chief Menominee and two other chiefs, No-taw-kah and Pee-pin-oh-waw. They were put into a horse- drawn jail wagon and Transported acrosssed Indiana, while their people rode horses or walked.

    They have been marching a little over a month, the Potawatomi reached and crossed the Mississippi RIver and entered Missouri

    The Potawatomia people finally got to their land. They went through three different states. 800 indians went on the trip, Only 42 went on the trip.

    The Potawatomi people have reached their new land, They didn't have any shelters yet and winter was approaching. They had no one to turn to, then they asked William Polke to help. He didn't come but he had his son stay, while he went back to Indiana.

    Father Petit became very ill and died. He was a young priest that assisted the tribe spiritually.
