This disheeatens people from wanting to go to America if they are going to end up disappearing.

Jamestown

This gave people hope that America was actually habitable by being able to grow tobacco and sell it to Great Britian.

Harvard founded

Apr 21, 1636

This is the first university to be established in the United States. It opened new doors (no pun intended) for people who wanted higher education but didn't want to or have the money to travel back to Great Britian. Access to higher education was a step that took the colonists one step closer to wanting independence.

Bacon's Rebellion

(a specific date could not be found) It is believed by some historians that this was the first event of revolutionizing. Virgina settlers followed Nathaniel Bacon who went against the rule of Governor Berkeley because he refused to retaliate against Native Americans that had attacked the village.
