  • Tuscarora Indian War(1711-1715)

    The Tuscarora Indian War was the result of slave traders taking Native Americans into slavery which caused the Native American tribe to counter-attack. The follow massacre of the colonist in North Carolina. The battles continued until 1715.
  • The French and Indian War(1744-63)

    The French and Indian War was a conflict between the French and British forces with each having different Native American tribes to support them. It began with a land dispute over the Ohio River valley
  • Currency Act

    British Parliament passed the Currency act that regulated American paper money in order to protect British merchants from the depreciated American paper money.
  • The Sugar Act

    British parliament put a tax on sugar and molasses from non-English merchants in order to raise more funding for the crown
  • The Stamp Act

    Parliament's first direct tax on the American colonies It taxed newspapers, pamphlets, legal documents, dice, and playing cards. Issued by Britain, the stamps were attached to documents or packages
  • Quartering Act

    An act that forced the American colonists to provided housing and food for British troops
  • Sons of Liberty Formed

    An organization founded by Samuel Adams that purpose was to fight for colonial American rights and to bring an end to taxation from the British government
  • Townshend Acts

    Acts passed to help pay for the expenses used in governing the colonies. Many everyday items were taxed, such as glass, lead, paint, paper, and tea.
  • The Boston Massacre

    A mob of colonists began attacking a group of British soldiers at night, resulting in the soldiers shooting the colonists. Five died and the event became a source of propaganda supporting independence from Britain.
  • Tea Act

    The Tea Act reduced the tax on imported tea, but gave British merchants an advantage in the American market.
  • The Boston Tea Party

    Protesting British taxation on tea, the Sons of Liberty, disguised as Native Americans, boarded three ships in the Boston Harbor and dumped 342 chests of tea into the sea.
  • First Continental Congress

    The Continental Congress was the governing body by which the American colonial governments planned their resistance to the British during the American Revolution.
  • The Battles of Lexington and Concord

    The Battles of Lexington and Concord started off the American Revolutionary War
  • Declaration of Independence

    American Colonists decided to make a committee to draft the Declaration of Independence, which declared freedom from Britain, and it was approved and published across North America.
  • The Battle of Yorktown

    The colonists and the French attacked the British on land and sea. The British fall under the control of the colonists and French, forcing the British to surrender, effectively ending the war.
  • Treaty of Paris

    Representatives from the U.S. and Britain met in Paris to sign a treaty that ended the American Revolution. The treaty stated that the U.S. would be recognized as its own nation.
  • 1st president

    George Washington served two terms from 1789 to 1797. During his presidency, he enacted upon a foreign policy of neutrality until the United States grew stronger.
  • Bill of Rights

    Composed of the first ten amendments of the Constitution. It was a document that listed the rights of individuals and limitations on the federal and state governments.
