  • Tom, Eliza, and Harry are negotiated to be sold.

Tom, Eliza, and Harry are negotiated to be sold.
Shelby is facing debt and is forced to either keep all his slaves or sell some and keep the farm. ¨It's all misery, misery, misery!¨ (Stowe 12) is what Eliza said about slavery when she found out that she might be sold away from her son
  • Eliza escapes

    Eliza escapes
Eliza no longer wants to be a slave. She wants her and her kid to be free. ¨Sublime is the dominion of the mind over the body, that, for a time, can make flesh and nerve impregnable, and string the sinews like steel, so that the weak become so mighty.¨ (Stowe 94), As you can see from this quote, Eliza is motivated and nothing is stopping her
  • St Clare buys Tom

    St Clare buys Tom
On a ferry to Louisiana, Tom is sold. This happens after St. Clare´s daughter Eva falls off the ferry and is saved by Tom. St Clare is an amazing man that does not even treat Tom like a slave. In fact he believes that slavery should be abolished and but that it just would not work out so well as St Clare states, "But, suppose we should rise up tomorrow and emancipate, who would educate these millions, and teach them how to use their freedom? They never would rise to do much among us.¨ (Stowe 28)
  • Prue dies.

    Prue dies.
Prue was a troubled slave from a neighboring plantation. She came to the farm one day to sell hot rolls and Tom saw what was wrong with her and tried to help her. St Clare states ¨If people choose to ruin their own possessions, I don't know what's to be done.¨ (Stowe 19), The slaves are just property and its completely wrong.
  • Eva dies

After a long history of health problems Eva dies. Which is sad because she was a ¨special child¨ (Stowe 23) and did no wrong to anyone.
  • Mr St Clare dies

Tom warned St Clare multiple times to stop going to bars so often. On this occasion he was stabbed for intervening with a bar fight.
  • Tom gets resold

St Clare´s widow sells Tom as well as all of her other slaves. Tom goes to a really mean man named Legree
  • Eliza makes it to Canada

After a long journey Eliza makes it to Canada. She went through a variety of struggles including slave hunters and escaping in the first place.
  • Legree beats Tom.

Legree instantly hates Tom. He hates the fact that he is Christian as well as just his character in general. But Tom refuses to change.
  • Tom inspires Sambo and Quimbo

Legree leaves fellow slaves Sambo and Quimbo to continue beating Tom. However they do not choose to do so. They want to become Christians. So Tom reads them verses and hymns and converts them to Christianity
  • Legree tries to convert Tom

Legree threatens to beat Tom again. He wants to convert Tom to his life of ¨cruelness and drinking¨ (Stowe 38)
  • Tom dies.

Legree beats Tom to death. This is a very sad event but we will know he died in honor. He sticked with God and is now with him in the sky
