  • Indian Terror

    Indian Terror
    As America expanded, people began to travel to the West, where a better life was expected. Being there they spread diseases like cholera, typhoid, and smallpox to the Indians. They also terroized them by shrinking their bison and livestock population. The indians were placed in reservations were they would be "protected". In these reservations they were even more terroirized where sometimes war was caused.
  • Spanning the continent

    The expansion of the country meant finding a way to connect the west and the east. Since it was a very expensive project,congress provided loans so the the job could be done. The transcontinental railroad included the Union Pacific Railroad, the Central Pacific Railroad, the Northern Pacific Railroad, the Atchison, Southern pacific, and the Great Northern.
  • Intrustialist

    Post reconstruction, America became an intrustalist country. Rich people controlled the steel industry, oil industry and the banks. Steel was the king during this time period. The majority of rich intrustalist tried to control their business in their own monopoly America was also becoming very modern with inventions like the telephone and lightbulb.

    As cities like New York, Chiago, and Philadelphia expanded into bigger cities that had skyscrapers and trolleys, which produced more jobs, people espexcially from Eastern Europe began immigrate yo the United States which offered oportunities of differnt freedoms including religious and political. Some americans dislike the immigrants, but some helped them asimilate into the culture

    Advancement for Black Society

    Although being oppresed prior to the civil war, blacks were inspired to work together to be able to have minimal advancement and to not be stepped on. Booker T. Wasinhton ideas included working hard to make it to the top. Associations like the NAtional Association for the Advancemnt of color people the rised to help the black society prosper.
  • Tobacco boost

    Post reconstruction, the south produced a small among of manufactured goods. It wasn't until the 1800s when machine made cigarettes replaced earlier methods. With this advancement people like James Buchanan Duke took advantage of the growing tobacco and formed the American Tobacco Company.
