    The Great Migration

    The Great Migration was the movement of 6 million African- Americans from the Southern part of the U.S. to the Northern part of the U.S in order to escape the discrimination and unfair treatment in the South. They went to the North in hopes of finding a new life, and they thought they could get better jobs, and live better.
  • Growth of KKK

    Growth of KKK
    The KKK first arose after the Civil War. It was made mostly to target African Americans, but was soon extended to immigrants, jewish, catholics, and liberals. They were a group that endorsed the violent acts towards these race groups. Soon they had a big number of members that joined them and became a larger orginization. After a while, they died down and was not a big problem for a while, but they emerged once again during the roaring 20's in oder to cause chaos to these races again.

    Labor Problems
    Many people during this time worked in very unsafe work conditions with no laws in place, to stop these conditions. Employees were forced to work in these conditions for a very unfair amount of money. Later in this era work started to become scarce. As a result, many people started to compete for work and work became very limited and almost impossible to find.

    The Growth of Movies
    Before the beginning of this era, movies were only as plays. There were not animated movies untill this era. Movies first started making an apperance in Hollywood with the rise of "stars" or actors. Movies started to be made because of the upcoming inventions and improvement of technology during this time.
  • Flappers

    Flappers
    Flappers was a name used for women who were either northern or urban, and were single, young, and belonged to the middle-class. These women or flappers were the beginning of a revolution to create more rights for women and to create equal rights. They did by defing what it meant to be a women. They began to dress with short skirts, short hair, and lots of make-up.

    Organized Crime
    Organized crime saw a big incline during the 1920's when the US government passed the prohibition law. It saw an incline in crime because people were depressed and desperate, so they turned to organize crime as a way to get rid of their problems. More and more people began to join these organized crimes in order to make a living for theirsleves and their loved ones.

    Prohibition was a constituational ban on the production, importation, and sale of alcholic. The government did made this prohibition in order to create awareness of what alchol does and it's consequences. Unfortunately, with the creation with this law it just increased other things. Things like: organized crime, crime in general, and the use of contraband.

    Harlem Renaissance
    The Harlem Renaissance was a period during the 1920's that gave opportunities to African-Americans. It was a cultural, social, and artistic explosion that took place in Harlem, New York. During this time many African-Americans emerged as writers, artists, musicians, and photographers. Many African-Americans improved their lives greatly and educated theirselves.

    Stock Market Crash
    In the 1920's the stock market experienced one if it's biggest downfall ever. The stock market was a way to make money. Well at least that is what the people thought untill they lost all their money. THe stock market crash affected people worldwide. Almost everyone lost their investments and companies and originzations were destroyed, and people lost their money and became poor.

    Amelia Earhart
    Amelia Earhart was the first women to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean. In attempts to not only be the first woman to fly across the Atlantic, but also be the first to fly across the Pacific Ocean she disappeared. Niether her or her airplane were ever found and still remains a mystery today.
