    The Great Awakening
    The great awakening was a period of religious revival. It started because when the new England colony started having free thinkers. The great awakening was the most important event in the american religion during the eighteenth century. It brought christianity to african slaves . It passed out of common favopr by the 1750"s.

    It was important because they fought for control of colonies& trade routes. The event took place because they wanted control, power & they wanted trade routes. During the war they passed the Proclamation. The colonists where mad because they couldnt move west anymore.

    The Sugar Act
    The sugar act set duties, or taxes, on molasses and sugar imported by colonists. Britian had to pay for the damage doner during the war. The colonists where mad because they felt they shouldnt be taxed. During all this the British required colonial merchants to make lists of all the trade goods. They kept all the taxes.

    The stamp act was a new plan for paying for their share of military expenses. The British needed money to pay for their debt. People payed for stamps instead of being texed. The people where mad because they didnt want to pay for anything. Because of this they became violent.

    The british had to pay for their debt. they had to find away to pay for their debt. The townshend act taxed importated glass, lead, paints, paper, and tea. The colonists where mad becuase of new taxes, they had had a large- sclae boycott that ended the townshend act.
  • Boston Massacre

    The bostomians saw the presence of british troops as a theart. The Boston Massacre stopped alot of violence. African americans where killed during this time. The colonists where scared. Thomas Preston was found guilty and this ended the Boston Massacre.

    The event was important because it helped pay debt. Compony officals pointed out that they could charge the lowest prices even after cousterms paided the tea. People stopped buying tea. They where mad about more taxes. There where no more costumers becuase people boycotted.
  • Boston Tea Party

    People dumped 90,00 pounds of tea into Boston Harbor.People got tea out of the harbor. They had a tea party at the Boston Harbor. The colonist had tea and where happy about it. The tea party ended when there wasnt any more tea.

    Parliament passed the covrercive acts. When Lord North heard about the Boston Tea Party he was furious! Boston Harbor was shut down untill Boston payed the cost of the destroyed tea. Some colonists wrote, pamphlets, editorials and plays to crticize the British government actions.
  • Battle of Lexington/Concord

    Boston had lost 250 soldiers. On April 18, 1775 Paul Revere and William Dawes had discovered that the British came to Concerd.
  • Battle of Bunker Hill

    Battle of Bunker Hill
    The colonists forced Boston under siege. On mid-June 1775 the Brtish prepared to secure Charlestown. The colonists suffered 1000 casualties. British gained control of the hill.

    A pamphelt of the time were written by lawyers. More than 500,000 where sold, and the colonists loved it. Congress decided it was time to make the idea of independece.

    The declaration of indepence was signed on july 4th, 1776. It was the offical declaration of war against the british monarch. To the colinst it was as if it was a holy text. something very special and sacred. The declaration is still in place to this very day.
  • Battle of Saratoga

    Burgoyne badly outnumbered troops clashedwith the patriots. On oct. 17, 1777 burgoyne formally surrendered to gates. This event wil mark one of the most brilliant pages of histery. Saratoga marked the greatest victory.
  • Battle of Yorktown

    The war was going badly for the patriots. They where low on mney, and the entrey did n end the war quicky.
  • Tready of Paris

    Tready of Paris
    Important because it laid out laws and boarders of where to go. Led up from the battle of yorktown. During the event righs where accepted between english and french and also many lands were made. The colonists and british liked the idea of being free and having freedom. In the end no war was made between anyone.
