    Maurice Tobin appointed
    Maurice Tobin is known as "a man of action," he had a very successful career. He started his career as the youngest ever elected representative of Massachusetts, at the age of 25. He later beat 4-term mayor of Boston, James Curley. He goes on to become governor of Massachusetts before being appointed secretary of labor. As secretary, he supports the Fair Employment Practices Bill.

    Martin Durkin- the Plumber.
    Martin Durkin is known for being part of Dwight Eisenhower's cabinet, despite being a plumbers apprentice. He resigned less than a year after being appointed secretary of labor, becoming the shortest serving secretary in the dept.s history. With the help of Frances Perkins, he becomes director of labor for Illinois.

    In 1970, Richard Nixon signed this law which gives the Federal Gov't authority to enforce health and safety standards.
