    The Proclamation of neutrality was a formal announcement issued by U.S. George Washington in May 1793 declaring the nation neutral in the conflict between France and Great Britain. It threatened legal proceedings against any American providing assistance to any country at war.

    The XYZ Affair was a political and diplomatic episode in 1797 and 1798 early in the administration of John Adams involving a conformation between the United States and Republican France that led to an undeclared war called the Quasi-War This situation happened when Americans went to France to talk to them about peace however the french officials wanted money to let that happen. The Americans saw this as bribery were furious.

    The convention of 1800 8 stat 178 also known as the treaty of Mortefontaine. was a treaty between the united states of America and France to settle the hostilities that had erupted during the Quasi War.

    The Louisiana purchase was when Tomas Jefferson had purchased 820,000 square miles from France and doubled the size of our country.
  • Embargo Act 1807

    The Embargo Act of 1807 was a general Embargo that made illegal any and all exports from the United States. It was sponsored by president Thomas Jefferson and enacted by congress. The goal was to force Britain and France to respect American rights during the Napoleonic Wars.

    The war of 1812 was between the Americans and the British. This is known to many as the second Revolutionary War. This war was mainly started when the British navy was taking American sailors and forcing them to work for them.

    The treaty of Ghent was the treaty that ended the war of 1812 and ended all hostilities between great Britain and north america. this treaty restored all land that was owned before the war on both sides.

    The Monroe Doctrine is what really stated how the Americans were really a powerhouse that no one should mess with. This document said that anyone trying to colonize on north american soil will be dealt with by use of hostilities.
