    Proclamation of Neutrality
    The Proclamation of Nuetrality, made it so that the US couldn't offer protection to Americans that violated or broke any nuetrality laws. It stated that the United States was no longer allowed to join in on war between two other powers. This being Great Britain and France.
  • XYZ Affairs

    XYZ Affairs
    This was between France and the United States both against Great Britain. The United States decided to come up with the Jay Treaty for Great Britain. France despised this, and that created conflict betweent U.S. and France. To prevent this war or conflict between them there was another treaty established. This was to for peace to remain between France and the U.S.
  • Covention of 1800

    Covention of 1800
    The XYZ Affairs was what contributed to the creation of the Convention of 1800 which restored peace, friendship, and alliance between the United States and France.
  • Louisiana Purchase

    Louisiana Purchase
    This was a purchase made by the United States from France which expanded their territory more than they ever could have imagined. They purchased over 800,000 square miles of land all West of the Mississippi River. This eventually allowed many states to be created from the land that the United States purchased.
  • Embargo Act

    Embargo Act
    This Act made all exports from the United States become illegal. The United Sates felt the need to stop all foreign trade by American ships. It also helped to show and force Britain and France to respect and honor the American rights.
  • War of 1812

    War of 1812
    This was a battle between the United States and Great Britain. There were many causes, two being that Great Britain tried to restrict U.S. trade and the United States wanting to spread and widen it's territory. The U.S. suffered many defeats by the British, but in the end United States viewed the war as a "second war of indepedence".
  • Treaty of Ghent

    Treaty of Ghent
    The Treaty of Ghent helped end the War of 1812. The treaty also helped the relationship between Great Britain and the United States. As a result of this, land was given back to the U.S.
  • Monroe Doctrine

    Monroe Doctrine
    This was a document that stated if European nations decided to try to colonize or intervene with states in North and South America, that their actions would be viewed as acts of aggression. The United States would then be allow to act upon the situation.
