  • Proclamation Act

    King George III following Great Britain's acquisition of French territory in North America. After the end of the French & Indian War which made all settlement draw a line past a the Appalachian mountains.
  • The Sugar Act

    The Sugar Act was proposed by the Prime Minister George Greenville. The focus of The Sugar Act was to discourage colonial merchants and manufactures from non-British goods to avoid taxes.
  • Stamp Act

    An act of the British goverment that wants to tax the colonies. This led to the appeal of tax, which made the Stamp Act.
  • The Quartering Act

    The Quartering Act was an extention of the Mutiny Act of 1686. American colonists were to fing British soldiers.

    The Stamp Act was the first unified meeting of The American Colonies to respond. The Stamp Act was a secret.

    Only the colonial assemblies has a right to tax the colonies.The use of Admiralty Courts was abuse.

    Forging stamps could have been resulted in death. More than 100 thousand stamps were shipped to America.

    Another act of Great Britian that wanted to repaeal the Stamp Act, they wanted to lessen the Sugar Act.

    Townshend Act

    This was a series of acts passed by the Parliment of Great Britain. The acts were named after Charles Townsend. The British wanted to tax the colonists.
  • Boston Massacre

    This began as a street between a Patriot and a squad of British soliders. They were trowing sticks and rocks, several people were killed.
  • Committee of Correpondance

    A shadow goverment of the Patriots. They tried to govern the 13 colonies.
  • Tea Act

    This was the final straw of un-wanted tax and policies.
  • Boston Tea Party

    This was a protest, by throwing tea into the ocean. Also to rebel again the British.
  • Intolerable Acts

    It denied the right to an elected legislative assembly. Passed religous reforms that were highly favorable.

    1st Continental Congress

    Congress chose to support the Suffolk resolves over the Galloway plan. The 1st Continental Congress convened in Philidelphia's Carpenters Hall.

    The fighting took place on Breed's Hill in Massachusetts. The British was planning to surround the city.
  • Olive Branch Petition

    A petition that was adopted by the 2nd Continental Congress. This was adopted to avoid war between the 13 colonies.
  • Common Sense

    Thomas Paine wrote this book. It was the most popular book at the time.
  • Declaration of Independance

    This document was signed by 56 delegates. About 20% of the American population during the revolutionary war was were Loyalists.
  • Treaty of Paris

    John Adams signed this treaty.
