  • Oct 12, 1492

    The discovery of america by Columbus

    On august 3rd Columbus and his crew set off to search for new land. On October 12, they found land, but not where they thought.
  • The settlement of Jamestown

    Jamestown, Virginia was the first permanent English settlement in North America.
  • The French and Indian war

    France tried moving onto the Ohio river. Britain said no. The war didn't end until 1763
  • The Boston tea party

    The new American people were getting unfairly taxed, so they threw 342 chests of tea into the Boston harbor.
  • The battle of Lexington and Concord

    The battle of Lexington and Concord began the revolutionary war. This is when Paul Revere came in.
  • The Declaration of Independence

    The Declaration of Independence stated that the 13 colonies were an independent nation.
  • The battle of Yorktown

    George Washington lead an army of French and American soldiers to fight against the British. The British surrendered. The American's won their independence. The revolutionary war was over.
  • The Constitutional convention

    realizing they had no king to look after them, they needed a sturdy government, as the one they had was not working. And was born the US constitution.
  • The invention of the cotton gin

    Eli Whitney invented the cotton gin which made the harvesting of cotton go much faster.
  • The Alien and Sedition acts

    The alien and Sedition acts were laws that made it harder to become a US citizen.
  • The Louisiana Purchase

    The Louisiana Purchase was a land treaty that America and France made because America wanted the land, and France needed the money, so it worked out.
  • The War of 1812

    the British tried to stop the trade going into America, and the trade going into France, and basically Britain was being a jerk.
  • The Missouri Compromise

    People wanted Missouri to be a slave state, but having the states equally balanced between slave/free, making Missouri a slave state would upset more than just the balance. so they had to switch everything up so Missouri could be a slave state.
  • Andrew Jackson’s Election

    It was the 11th quadrennial presidential election, Jackson won by an incredible amount.
  • The Trail of Tears

    Andrew Jackson wanted to expand his territory, so he made the Native Americans sign a treaty giving their land to him. Because of this all of the tribes in that territory were forced to relocate.
  • The Panic of 1837

    Kinda like the great depression of 1837, unemployment went up, wages went down.
  • The invention of the telegraph

    Samuel Morse invented the telegraph, a machine used to convey messages to far off places using an arrangement of dots and slashes. We call this Morse code.

    Texas was free from Mexico's rule, but America wanted it, Mexico didn't want them to have it.
