  • Invention/Creation of the Model T

    Until 1972, it held the record for longest period of time any same car was manufactured: 19 years. This car was seen by its creator as practical for Americans, due to its low cost, durability, versatility, and easy maintenance.
  • The Zimmerman Telegram

    Germany sends Mexico a telegram, claiming to give the Mexican nation the land it lost to the United States if they allied with the German forces.
  • The WWI Armistice is Signed

    This signing took place at 11 am on the 11th day of the 11th month. It ended the war on the Western Front, with an Allied win and a total loss for Germany, based on the armistice terms.
  • The 19th Amendment

    This amendment was ratified, giving American women the right to vote.
  • First Solo Flight Across Altlantic

    Completed by Charles Lindbergh, flying from New York to Paris. He was age 25 at the time.
  • Black Thursday

    It was on this day that the Wall Street stock market crashed.
  • Hitler Becomes Chancellor

    Adolf Hitler is appointed Chancellor of Germany, beginning his rise to power.
  • The New Deal

  • Signing of The Munich Pact

    The pact was signed by British, French, and (Nazi) German leaders.
  • Hitler Invades Poland

    Poland was a neutral area between Soviet Russia and Germany, and due to an agreement signed by both powers, Germany was able to invade without fear of Soviet intervention. (Fun fact, my birth date is on the 61st anniversary of the invasion's beginning. Thanks, mom!)
  • Bombing at Pearl Harbor

    Japanese airplanes bomb the U.S. naval fleet, stationed in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.
  • D-Day

    Allied forces storm the beaches of Normandy, France against the heavily fortified German positions, in the beginning of their effort to take back Europe. This was the largest amphibious attack in history.
  • Bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan

    The United States dropped two atomic bombs in Japan, one in Hiroshima, the other in Nagasaki. So far, this has been the only use of nuclear weaponry in any war.
