Inspired by Yuri Gagarin, Tereshkova started sky diving, which would help her a lot in space. -
She's been accepted in the Female Cosmonauts Corp!
On 16 February 1962, Valentina Tereshkova was selected to join the female cosmonaut corps. Out of more than four hundred applicants, five were selected: Tatyana Kuznetsova, Irina Solovyova, Zhanna Yorkina, Valentina Ponomaryova, and Tereshkova. Qualifications included that they be parachutists under 30 years of age, under 170 cm tall, and under 70 kg in weight. They had to complete a lot of traning. -

At the time of 12:30 p.m., Valya takes off for the moon in the Vostok 6. She stays on the moon for 2 days, 23 hours and 12 minutes! -
Welcome Back Valya!
When Valya returns from space, a senior helping her out of her suit asks her, "Did you see god?". Tereshkova replied "no." and then she realised that she had a bruise on her face and it might have been on food poisoning.
