    Neel and his crew member were on a plane, when their plane was hit. Their plane was hit by a boche bullet, cutting the planes wires. After the bullet hit, Mr.Neel grabbed the wires so that the crippled rudder could be controlled, allowing the pilot to make a land. Neel than explains how miraculously survived when the bullet hit inches away from his foot and the bullet would of traveled his body.

    Neels plane was hit several times, one in the tire, two in the pilot seats, and one of those hit the wires. According to Neel, the shooter didn't realize he had hit his plane. Even though Neel and his crew member knew their life could end any moment, they shot back with bravery at the shooter.

World War I was known as the “war to end all wars” because, of the all the slaughter and destruction it caused.The war ended with more than 9 million causalities.

    Neel earned Areo Club Of America certificate in February 14 of 1919. Neel had earned his certificate for recognition of valor and distinguished service. Neel was a pilot for the all his years of service. Even though his a war veteran he almost lost his life when his plane was shot.
