    Walt Disney was born on december 5th in Chicago.

    At this time Disney was attending McKinley High School in Chicago. He took night courses at Chicago Academy of Fine Arts.

    Walt droped out of high school at the age of 16 in hope to join the army. He was then turned down because he was underage.

    Disney teamed up with a man named Iwerks and created the "Iwerks-Disney Commercial Artists" company. They started creating mini comic strips called "Laugh-O-Grams".

    Laugh-O-Gram studios
    Walt opened a company called "Laugh-O-Gram" studios. He hired a number of animators including his brother, Iwerks. and Fred Harman.
  • Disney Brothers Studios

    Disney Brothers Studios
    Disney and his brother Roy created a new company named "Disney Brothers Studios". They relocated from Kansas to Hollywood.

    The Disney Brothers Studios created their first animated series called "Alice Comedies". This was very succesful so they continued it until 1927 when it lost popularity.

    Walt married the woman he hired to ink and paint celluloid. He would go on to be married to her until they both died.

    Walt and his company began to work on the new animated series they created, Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. When it was released it was an instant success but was under the trademark of Universal Studios.

    After losing the rights to Oswald, the company came up with Mickey Mouse to be their new character. This would be a great decision as he is one of the most recongnized characters to this day.

    At this time Disney began to plan a full-length animated film, Snow White. This would be developed until 1937 and when it was released it earned around $134 million dollars when compared to todays money.

    In this time Walt made many master pieces that are still very popular to this day. Some of these include Peter Pan, Alice in Wonderland, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad and many more.

    After trip he took, he invisioned an ammusment park where the employees would spend time with their children. This big project would be huge and would later become Disneyland when it first opened in 1955.

    In late 1965 Walt planned to make another theme park named Disney World. The planning was big but would not be released to the public until after he died.
  • Illness

    Disney was a chain smoker and although he made sure he didn't do it near kids he still smoked. After going to the hospital to get an old injury repaired on his neck he learned he had a tumor in his left lung. This was removed but he only had 6 months to 2 years to live.

    Disney died at the age of 65 on Decemberr 15th 1966. The cause of his death was lung cancer.

    In 1974 the Disney compant made a tourist attraction on an island. People could go there and see all sorts of animals. It was later closed in 1999 and has been abandoned ever since.

    In 2006, Disney got the rights to Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. ESPN bought the rights to the character and other properties from Universal. Disney owns 80% of ESPN so they technically have the rights to it.
