    Walter Botts was born!
    Samuel Wilson was born in Arlington, Massachusetts. After his birth his parents decided to move to New Hampshire to try something new. He eventually moved to troy New York and helped pack meat to give to the men participating in the war.

    he went to Virginia Military Institute in 1854, he studied law then eventually he moved to Texas in 1857 where he met his wife.

  • Walt was officially known as Uncle Sam

    Walt was officially known as Uncle Sam
    they said he looked like Uncle Sam which was sort of related to a meat packer in NY, he supplied barrels of beef to U.S. Army during the war in 1812. Samuel Wilson was his real name and people knew him as progenitor of America's symbol, Uncle Sam. The actual form of Uncle Sam goes back all the way to the war of 1812. The most popular way we know Uncle Sam today is the famous poster made by James Montgomery.

    Walter decides to take things up a level and marries Martha Elizabeth Mcllhenny and not only that! they had 11 kids! which included 6 daughters and 4 sons.

  • Botts was promoted to lieutenant colonel.

    while at action in a battle named the seven pines also known as the battle of fair oaks, Botts was hurt. This caused Bott to earn his way to a promotion from getting wounded. [https://tshaonline.org/handbook/online/articles/fbobc]

    As you know, Botts was injured in part of a battle. He and the doctors thought he was fine but eventually he ended up not being so okay. He went to a hospital in Virginia and returned to Texas on July, 17.

    Walter Botts wanted to continue to do law practice so he came to Houston to work with a guy named peter and some other guy. When Gray left the firm he left the name "Baker & Botts" Walte became being an important attorney. He also became a merchant and a cotton broker. Eventually Botts past away on the same year

    Here on this day, June 4th, in Texas, Walter got a commendation for his service to the country. As the president Lyndon had a big job but so did Uncle Sam. Also on this day Lyndon B. Johnson mentions Walter's picture and causes it to get more attention from millions of people.

    At the time, i dont think Walter thought this picture would have anything to do with his future but it really did. It changed a lot of things including what name people called him by. As he posed for this picture they decided it would look nice on a poster with a caption. So they did just that, and the caption read "I Want You For U.S. Army." and as for Botts this is where it all started, after this he was referred to as Uncle Sam and the poster got really popular and well-known.
  • Got a certificate for Uncle Sam.

    The certificate noted him as the original Uncle Sam, signed by Gordon R. Elliott. He got this certificate because the people were thanking him for his service to the country. Since Walter (Uncle Sam) served in the Army, it helped him earn a lot of respect. And all from different types of people. They cared a lot about him.
