  • Battle of Lake Eriee

    Naval engagement between British and American navy. America captured 6 British Royal Navy Ships and defeated them. One of the biggest naval engagements in the War of 1812
  • Battle of Bladensburg and Burning of Washington

    British forces overcame American forces in the Battle of Bladensburg, Maryland. From there British marched on towards the US capital. They occupied Washington and set fire to several buildings including the White House. This attack was retaliation against previous attacks in Canadian government buildings.
  • Battle of Plattsburgh

    The British Army entered the US from lower Canada through New York and advanced to Plattsburgh. British navy also advanced through Plattsburgh Bay on Lake Champlain Americas smaller naval force waited for them at the end of the lake and battle begun immediately. British Naval leader was killed and British surrendered and retreated to lower Canada.
  • Battle of Baltimore and Siege of Fort McHenry

    Fought between the United States and Great Britain. American army had 1,000 men and little arms at Fort McHenry. Great Britain were well equipped with ships and 5,000 men. Britain defeated US at Fort McHenry and went to attack Baltimore which was a important port which they thought was the base of many Americans relying on their shipping. Baltimore residents stranded up against Britain and the war ended with a success to America.
  • Battle of New Orleans

    American military was led by Andrew Jackson and Britain was led by Alexander Cochrane. After hearing that British were planning to attack, Jackson ordered all weapons and men to New Orleans to defend. After many encounters Jackson won this battle which would affect the US greatly.
