The exact date for this photograph is unknown. Only the year, 1938, has been published. This picture shows that often times war results in children being trained at ages so young. The boys look no older than 7 or 8 years old. They probably haven't an idea of the truth of the horrible hate they were being taught. -
Nazi Victim Surviors - MARGARET BOURKE-WHITE
"Hollow-eyed, emaciated male prisoners, victims of Nazi genocide against Jews of Europe and others, gripping barbed wire fence in wonderment at their liberation from the cruelties of Buchenwald concentration camp by American forces, Germany - April 28th, 1945" I found this photograph interesting and a good fit for my timeline because this is a moment captured right before the liberation of these victims. They've suffered horribly, and are right on the verge of tasting freedom again. -
Hitler's Bathtub
Lee Miller in Adolf Hitler's bathtub, Munich, 1945. This photograph, although not directly photographing war, is one that absolutely amazes me. In the midst of a mass genocide war zone, this woman stomped right up to the home of Hitler and did something not many people would think to do- leave stains on his perfectly spotless bathroom and take a photograph in his bath tub. -

I think this image is important to remind us that apart from the actual war, there is a beginning and an end. Where people depart from, and reunite with, their loved ones. It is an aspect of war not often photographed in War Photography. -

"The man with the gun is General Nguyen Ngoc Loan, the Republic of Vietnam’s Chief of National Police, while the man about to die is Nguyen Van Lém, a Vietcong soldier." The intensity in this photograph is what caught my eye. It's horrifying, yet one can not seem to tear their eyes away from it. -

A South Vietnamese plane accidentally dropped warfare liquid on the civilians of South Vietnam.
This timeline would not be complete without this image. The sheer panic and heartbreaking expressions of the children running is one you'll only find in a warzone setting. -

It seems that the same people who were involved in killing the people around her were also the ones to hold her when she was wounded. -

Brother pulls sister out of rubble
This photograph by Hosam Katan is one of pure and raw emotion. A boy in Syria has just pulled his baby sister out from under rubble. The way they are holding on to each other speaks more than words ever could. -

A syrian child in a refugee camp in Turkey holds up her arms at the sight of the photographer's camera, thinking that it is a gun. This photograph is important to the timeline to show the effects of war on children, even after they've been removed from the war zone. -
Child washes up on shore-Nilüfer Demir
A three year old Syrian child washed up on the shore of Turkey in September of 2015. The refugee crisis is a direct result of the war in Syria. When taken out of context, the picture might seem like a joke- like a tired baby who fell aseep face first on the beach. -
Danish Policeman-Michael Drost-Hansen
A Danish Policeman plays with a Syrian refugee child. This photograph is very important to the timeline. It shows a child who has experienced war and trauma laughing and seemingly genuienly happy with this complete stranger.
