Seven Year's War (1756-1763)
The Seven Year's War is a large-scale war that broke out between most of the greater powers of the time, including Great Britian, France, Germany, and many more. The war was fought for about 9 years ironically, with about 1,400,000+ casualties. It is commonly reffered as the "First World War", because this took place over 100 years before World War I. -
American Revolutionary War (1775-1783)
The American Revolutionary War was a war that sparked from civilian protesting. This event, known as the "Boston Tea Party", involved protesters boarding ships and dumping tea that was shipped to the US into the harbor, ruining the tea. The British Government responded harshly, and thus, starting the war. The American Revolution lasted 8 years and ended with the end of the First British Empire, peace in Paris, and the Independance of the United States of America. -
The French Revolution (1789-1799)
The French Revolution is a war that took place whithin France involving social and political upheavel. There were many causes for the French Revolution. Some being food, others politics, etc,. The French Revolution lasted 10 years and ended with the beheading of Queen Marie-Antoinette, France becoming a Republic, and Napoleon becoming emporer. -
The Napoleonic Wars
The Napoleonic Wars were a series of conflicts and events that mostly involved the French Empire, which was led by Napoleon. This is usually seen as a continuation of the French Revolution. Napoleon fought 60 battles, and lost 7, mostly at the end of his reign. This resulted in the collapse of the French Dominion and the defeat of Napoleon. This series of events lasted 12 years. -
The War of 1812 (1812 - 1815)
The War of 1812 was a war that was fought between the United States of America and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland. This war was declared for many reasons, most being trade restrictions that were set after the war with France. This war lasted about 2 and a half years and had around 3000 casualties. The War of 1812 ended in a stalemate. -
American Civil War (1861 - 1865)
The Civil War was a war fought within the US to determine the survival of the Union of independance for the Confederacy, and the riddance of slavery. The Civil War was one of the first true industrial wars. It lasted about 4 years and had about 365,000 casualties. The American Civil War ended with the Union victorious. This resulted in the end of slavery, and the beginning of the reconstruction era, -
World War I (1914 - 1918)
World War I was the first (argueably second) World War, which was fought between the Allied Forces and the Central Powers of Germany and Austria-Hungary (sometimes referred to as the Axis). The Allied Forces consisted of France, Britain, Russia, Japan, Italy, Portugal, The US, Greece, and many more. The war lasted 4 years, with about 39,000,000 casualties. In the end, the Allied Forces were victorious. This resulted in the end of the German, Russian, Ottoman, and Austro-Hungarian empires. -
World War II (1939 - 1945)
World War II is a gigantic war involving all of the great powers of the world. This created 2 opposing sides of the war: the Allies and the Axis. It is one of the most widespread wars, (agueably) most well known war, and the deadliest conflict in human history. The war consisted of a massive amount of civilian deaths, which was related to the Holocaust, led by Adolph Hitler. Vietnam War (1955 - 1975)
The Vietnam War is a war that took place in Vietnam and occured because of communism. The war was fought between anti-communist forces (South Vietnam, USA, South Korea, Thailand, etc.) and communist forces (North Vietnam, China, Viet Cong, etc.). The war lasted about 20 years and has an estimated 3.8 million dead. -
Gulf War (1990 - 1991)
The Gulf War, codenamed "Operation Desert Shield", is a war that broke out between the US, Kuwait, UK, and helping countries (including Canada) vs Iraq. The purpose of this operation was to take back Kuwait from Iraq. The war resulted in US victory, and the restoration of Kuwait. The war ended on February 28 1991, and has a recorded 5000 casualties. -
War in Afghanistan (2001 - Present)
The War in Afghanistan is an ongoing war taking place in Afghanistan, which started with the 9/11 attacks. It is currently a battle between the Republic of Afghanistan, USA, Australia, UK, and Canada VS the Taliban. The war is ongoing, and was started for the purpose of eliminating terrorists in Afghanistan.
