  • 1st Continental Congress

    1st Continental Congress
    The First Continental Congress was made up of 56 delegates who met in Philadelphia. The congress met to discuss colonial rights and the taxes that were imposed by the British without consent . The congress agreed to boycott British goods , they also wrote the Declaration of colonial rights. there was no talk of Revolution at this point
  • Battle of Lexington and Concord

    Battle of Lexington and Concord
    This was the first battle of the Revolutionary War. British army under the rule of General Gage was sent to Lexington and Concord to seize the town and destroy all american weapons hidden there. British army win at Lexington but at Concord the Americans are successful and win.
  • 2nd Continental Congress

    2nd Continental Congress
    Olive Branch Petition was rejected by King George III. Revolution was introduced to the delegates by John Adams which most southern states disliked. By the end of this meeting Congress declared the independence of America with the Declaration of Independence (written by Thomas Jefferson).
  • Battle of Long Island

    Battle of Long Island
    Britain's plan was to seize control of New York and Keep New England isolated from the rest of the colonies. This happened in Brooklyn NY 1200 Americans were killed and Britain had won and was waiting for the surrender of George Washington to win the war. Luckily for the Americans it was a foggy day and they escape by boat through the fog. Thanks to Washington the army would be able to fight again and Britain wouldn't take control.

    American troops led by George Washington surprise British troops the day after Christmas with war. American troops fight them in their own campground. This was an American victory, they killed 30 Hessian's and held about 918 captive.

    The battle of Saratoga was a turning point in the American Revolution. this battle was fought by British General John Burgoyne and American leader Horatio Gates and Benedict Arnold. The British plan was to isolate New England colonies from the other colonies. This war was unsuccessful on the British end , they surrendered to the Americans

    The Battle of Charleston was one of the major battles that took place toward the end of the American Revolutionary War. British wanted to win the south which they did. Many men were killed in this war and the British took control of the town.
  • Siege of Yorktown

    this was a siege that lasted about three weeks. Americans surrounded and outnumbered the exhausted Britain troops. This was an American victory
  • Treaty of Paris

    Treaty of Paris
    This was a treaty between America and great Britain. the treaty of Paris confirmed the independence of the United States of America and set the boundaries of the new nation. the Treaty was signed by Adams, Franklin, Jay, and Henry Laurens.
