    On this days ( August 11 1965) in a African American neighborhood in Los Angelas, police scuffle with a motorist who is suspected of drunk driving. Many gathered around to watch the arrest of the man, soon riots broke out.

  • the day after the arrest

    After the arrest, police and the local African American community leaders set up a meeting which later on failed. They wanted to discuss a way to be calm which did not work out. Chief Parker of the police force believed that the riots resembled a insurgency and called the paramilitary to take action.

  • the riot gets intense

    Around 2,300 guardsmen come join the police force and they attempt to maintain the streets. There were blockades put up on streets so nobody is able to come through with cars or anything big, there have been 34 casualties on this day, and 31 of the 34 dead were killed due to law enforcement bullets. People were tearing up property so they would be able to throw objects like bricks and concrete at law enforcement's and their cars.

    On August 15 1965, the riots were coming to an end with a total of 34 people dead and 1,032 injuries and over $40 million dealt in damage in total.
