    HMS Beagle Scientific Expedition
Charles Darwin accepted the role as a naturalist aboard the HMS Beagle. This position was for a mapping project in South American with a two-year projected scientific expedition.
While aboard, Charles wrote to John Henslow, a former teacher, who spread Charles's finding with English naturalists.
Charles wrote, "The Beagle Diary" and many field notes documenting changes in animals, plants, and nature. He came to the conclusion that these changes were not divine, but evolutionary.
  • On The Origin of Species

    On The Origin of Species
November 24, 1859, Charles Darwin would publish his book “On the Origin of Species by means of Natural Selection, or the Preservation of Favoured Races in the Struggle for Life”. The foundation for this book began with sketches of his theory in 1842 after further investigating his collected date from his voyage on the HMS Beagle. Despite no proof and a controversial theme, he published his book on the theory of evolution. Although, Darwin trod lightly around the matter of human evolution.
  • Variations of Animals and Plants Under Domestication

Variations of Animals and Plants Under Domestication
In the publication of “Variations of Plants and Animals Under Domestication,” Darwin expands into plants and animals in terms of natural and artificial selection. Darwin expresses the many variations in which artificial selection plays a hand in and how because of the decline in genetic diversity, we could use artificial selection to our advantage. This book expands on evolution in plants and animals and discusses the benefits of breeding superior genetic matches for advancement.
  • The Descent of Man, and Selection in Relation to Sex

The Descent of Man, and Selection in Relation to Sex
The writing of “The Descent of Man, and Selection in Relation to Sex” began in 1970, a race against the publications of those from Alfred Russel Wallace. After avoiding the subject of human evolution in his prior publications, Darwin finally touches on the subject of human adaptions and survival of the fittest. Darwin goes to provide evidence and make comparisons that man is an animal. He debates the similarities and also delves into the categories of race gender and race.
