The Washingtion Conferenece
February 6, 1922 was the date of the Washington Conference. This was to cut the size and set a limit for the Japanese navy. In result, it cut the strength of the army and navy so they couldn’t challenge the Chinese troops in Manchuria. -
The Kellogg-Briand Pact
The Kellogg-Briand Pact was signed on August 27, 1928. This Pact helped Japan solve disagreements peacefully. Events that happened shortly after this help show little influence international peace. -
Japan's Population
By 1930, Japan’s population was near 65 million people. Because of the population growing, they didn't have that much land anymore. -
The Great Depression
Japan’s industries depended their goods on foreign countries. With the Great Depression in 1930, Japan had a lot of buyers to buy their goods from them. -
The Japanese army stationed in Manchuria
In September of 1931, the Japanese army stationed in Manchuria claiming that Chinese soldiers tried to blow up the railway line. -
The War Begins
In July of 1937, Japan resumed its invasion of China. Japan started a war from a minor clash at the Marco Polo bridge. -
Japan's Prime Minister
In 1940, Japan’s prime minister announced a Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere to be led by the Japanese. -
Japan's Allies
In September 1940, Japan allied itself with Germany and Italy through the Tripartite Pact. Japan had set their sights on the oil-rich Dutch East Indies. -
Japan's signs a Neutrality Pact
In April of 1941, Japan signed a neutrality pact with the Soviet Union. -
The war finally ends
The war between China and Japan ended in September 1945.
