The Coronation of Queen Elizabeth I
Queen Elizabeth I took the throne when her sister, Queen Mary I, died on November 17 1558, but she didn't have a coronation until January 15 1559 -

The first public playhouse is built in London
The first public playhouse (known as "the theatre") was built in 1576 by James Burbage who was an English actor and entrepreneur and was also the father of Robert Burbage who was great friends with Shakespeare. The Theatre was mostly used by William until it was closed in 1597 and dismantled in 1598. -

Sir Francis Drake's circumnavigation of the world
Sir Frances Drake left London in 1577. He traveled to the bottom of South America and came up the west coast to North America, crossed over to Indonesia and went across the Indian Ocean to the bottom of South Africa and followed up the west coast back to London which he returned in 1580. -

Sir Walter Raleigh's first expedition to Roanoke
Sir Walter Raleigh released an expedition to the eastern coast of North America and was led by Philip Amadas and Arthur Barlowe. They landed on July 4th on the Roanoke Islands and quickly made relations with the Croations and the Secotans which are the local natives. -
Christopher Marlowe's Dr. Faustus premieres
The play Dr. Faustus was written by Christopher Marlowe and is based on German stories about Faust who is also the main character. The play went from 1588 to 1593 which is when Christopher died. -
The defeat of the Spanish Armada
In July 1588 the Spanish army tried to battle Britain, but the Spanish ships were much slower than Britain's and the british sent out burning ships and the Spanish fleet tried to set sail to avoid these ships but got in trouble with the change of wind which led to a great victory for England -
The North Berwick Witch Hunt
The North Berwick Witch Hunt (also known as the witch trials) started in 1590 and themost people accused were from East Lothian, Scotland and they were brought to St. Andrew's Auld Kirk in North Berwick. 70 people were accused in the span of 2 years. -

The Earl of Essex's attempted rebellion
The Earl of Essex planned a rebellion on February 3 1601, which was led by Robert Devereux which was planned to seize the court, tower and the city to try to stop Queen Elizabeth. They attempted to attack on February 7 1601 but they were caught and Robert was sentenced to death for treason. -
King James I succeeds Queen Elizabeth I
on the 24th of March 1603 Queen Elizabeth died at age 69. Which then King James I came to power. -
The Gunpowder Plot
Remember remember the 5th of November, Gunpowder, treason and plot. I still see no reason why gunpowder treason should ever be forgot. Thanks to Guy Fawkes who was caught with 36 barrels of explosives. This was a failed attempt to assassinate King James. -

Jamestown is known as the first permanent English settlement in the Americans. It is located on the east bank of Powhatan river and was discovered on May 13 1607. -
The King James Bible is published
English translation of the christian bible for the Church of England, started in 1604 and published in 1611 -
Globe is destroyed by a fire
on 29 June 1613 the globe burned down. The cause of the fire was from a canon spark catching the roof on fire during the play "Henry the V" and the globe burned down in less than an hour -
Theaters are shut down by the Puritans and acting is banned
In 1642 the puritans sadly took over parliament after the civil war. The theaters were already closed during the war but they never opened again until Charles II took power in 1660
