    Event #1- Winston Churchill was born on November 30, 1874, In Blenheim Palace, United Kingdom. He was Lord Randolph Churchill, a widely-known, politician's oldest son. His mother, Jennie Jerome was a socialite and someone that Churchill later admired greatly. This is significant, as later in his life he would be known as "Savior of his country" and the leader of Britain in Word War II.

    In December of 1894, Churchill had left Sandhurst, with honors and being ranked eighth, out of 150 cadets. He was in the 4th Hussars, as a cavalry officer when he left. At this time, he had made his father very pleased with his accomplishments. This is significant, because Churchill hadn't been the best at school previously, but had worked hard here to earn his rank. He had learned many military skills that he had taken with him and used for upcoming events in his life.

When he shielded them with paper that was thick and back, he found that a greenish light was shining through. This event is significant, because it increased Alaska's population, with many people looking to settle down and start families. Now with high chances of an increase of jobs, it effected the economy greatly.

In this book, he discussed his experiences at war under General Gordon, when he was stationed in Khartoum, Sudan. Until the morning of, when the 4 bridges to the mainland, were all slammed by steamboats. Surges had headed their way, as people seeked safety in Tremont Hotel and City Hall. This is significant, as it resulted in the city to increase the elevation of the island by 17 feet and build a seawall.

    On August 15, 1914, The Panama Canal is officially opened. It was a $350 million project, that took many years and had many setback. This is known as the U.S.'s most expensive construction project in history, as it consisted of about 56,000 workers between 1904 and 1913. This is a significant event, as it provides ships a shorter trip between the Atlantic and Pacific Ocean. This has saved people time and money to transport cargo.

    Amelia Earhart's Transatlantic Flight is a Success
    On May 21, 1932 Amelia Earhart had succeeded in flying solo across the Atlantic Ocean. Taking off from Newfoundland, she flew 2,000 miles and landed in Ireland in about 15 hours. Even though she had already been famous for other trips, this one was the most recognized. The U.S. Congress had even recognized her, by giving her a Distinguished Flying Cross. This is a significant event, as she was the first woman to accomplish this trip alone.
